The big bore kit is pretty easy. It is actually pretty basic. If you are buying a complete kit it should come with a spec sheet that will give you clearances and so forth. Make sure you gap the rings. I believe the gap should be .002" per inch of bore. If you are running a super hi-lift cam then you will want to check the piston to valve clearance and also the check for valve spring coil bind.
Good luck and let me know if you have any further questions.

It's not hard to DIY. Just make sure you check piston clearance and ring end gap when you install the kit. They are pretty much bolt on but you may want to install a better camshaft, ( I recommend Megacycle or a Web Cam), when doing so I would also recommend installing hi-performance valve springs.
Let me know what type of diagrams you are looking for. I can send you a link to a parts manual if needed.
    Best of luck.

Will a 56mm cylinder kit fit a 064

It seems that YES a 56mm aftermarket cylinder is available for the Stihl 064. Looking at the kit you need to just replace Cylinder, Piston and rings, bearing bush and clips. Worth also replacing the base gasket too.

I have a klx 250s 2009 model and was thinking about getting a new needle and slide put in plus a 300 big bore kit will this give it more get up and go...

The 300 kit should produce more power, and you may need to rejet the carby to match the 300 kit
A good after market muffler also increases power
A needle and slide will not produce more power, unless the current ones are very worn and supplying the incorrect mixture.

boring over increases power but reduces durability. If you're looking to race, it's good but if you just want a reliable toy, I'd get a stock bike

Polish and port

Take some duct tape and put it around the shape of the new port opening. Now put on a second layer of duct tape. This does two things. First it outlines the size and shape of the revised port, and second when the rotary grinder skips out of the port, (as it is going to do a bunch of times), the grinder bit won't nick up the cylinder wall.

The only polishing needed is on the face of the new port area. Give the burned gas a smooth exit into the exhaust pipe. Don't go too extreme on the changes. Too much and you loose performance. This is the voice of experience talking.

Broken kick starter gear

No other gear set available to my knowledge. The correct set of gears should be able to handle an extra 50cc. The head gasket and cylinder gasket should also be the same. If they arn't, the larger gaskets would come with the kit.
