After riding when I shut off the engine I get a noticeable metal to metal clunk as the engine stops. The best description I can give of the sound is that it sounds like someone is striking the engine case lightly with a small hammer The sound seems to be RPM related. If the engine is idling at about 1400 rpm when I turn off the key, the clunk is more pronounced than it is if the engine is idling at 1200 rpm (at which speed it is almost none existant. The scooter runs well, makes no unusual sounds at start up and "shifts" smoothly. I had a 650EX Suzuki motorcycle that make a similar noise under similar circumstances.
SOURCE: Gilera Nordwest Carb setting
Hi,
I have a gilera RC 600 which has the same engine as the nordwest, the problem could be the carb needs to be stripped and cleaned and replace the foam air filter with a paper one. For accurate advice and spares which are quickly posted, contact BOB WRIGHT at 0044193451033. He is the official UK gilera specialist, tell him I sent you, say the guy in southern Ireland, and he will look after you. Good Luck.
PS please rate me if this helped
