How to purge fuel line 2013 xlc1200

It will purge itself while the fuel system is being activated.

If what you are asking is not to purge air from the line after it has been emptied of fuel and instead you want to drain the tank you could get a male quick disconnect fitting and insert it into the quick connect in place of the fuel injector fuel rail line with a piece of tubing as needed etc and then activate the fuel pump in isloation from the bike electrical system but it would be easier to get a vacuum fluid transfer pump or other type of appropriate pump and draw the fuel out through the filler openoing.

Removing fuel supply line

You must be talking about the fuel rail to the injectors. You would release fuel pressure from the line by disconnecting the pump fuse then running the engine until it quits and then turning engine over for a few seconds and then disconnect the quick connect fitting. Then disconnect the battery negative and replace the fuel pump fuse and then Then remove the horn and access the injectors and undo the fuel rail retaining fastener and release the fuel rial from the injectors.

For a carburetted model shut off the fuel shutoff valve and then disconnect the fuel line from the shutoff valve and then disconnect it from the carburetor.

How do i test fuel pump on cbr1100x blackbird

You should hear the pump working when the ignition is turn on will tell you the electics are working, for fuel flow you will need a plastic large cup or beaker to catch fuel pull a rubber glove over the beaker and cut a finger off to insert the fuel line,
lift the tank you will see 2 hoses and the wiring coming from the pump the rubber hose is the return the banjo is the feed remove the banjo from the fuel rail and fit through the glove finger you cut eariler.

Turn the key ( with the kill swith on) and when the pump primes you should see steady flow of fuel to the beaker.

If you cant hear the pump work when the the ignition is first turned on
remove the pump wiring coupler and put your feed in beaker as before.
You will need a 12v battery & 2 wires 2ft with 2 connectors fitted on one end of each wire,
Connect one wire to + one to - on the battery, on the pump coupler you only need 2 wires the rest are for the fuel lights ect,

1999 YZF 600 carb breakdown. Gas will not go to carb rail. why?

Hi, Smcclatchey2 always check fuel flow first to isolate the problem area otherwise the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel cap or fuel tank not venting properly.
3. Fuel filter clogged with rust or dirt.
4. Fuel valve/petcock not in the on or reserve position.
5. Vacuum line to fuel valve cracked, broken, pinched, or missing*
6. Fuel valve/petcock clogged or diaphragm cracked, cut or torn*
7. Fuel line from the fuel valve to the carburetor or fuel pump clogged, cracked, pinched, bent, broken, or missing.
8. Fuel pump not working*
9. Fuel line touching cylinder or head causing fuel to boil and vapor lock, repair by rerouting and wrapping line with convoluted tubing.
10. Carburetor inlet clogged.
11. Carburetor float or needle and seat stuck.
12. Carburetor not venting properly overflow line or bowl fitting clogged, pinched, or bent.
* If equipped or applicable.

1994 softail springer with harley carburator. fuel fitting on carb that was there had a plastic clip and small line going to hose. This hose broke and I was given a different fitting. This fitting presses...

The original fuel line fitting on the Keihen carb is a pressed in fitting made of brass and plastic. The plastic piece breaks off leaving the brass nipple in the carb. Harley makes a replacement fitting as well as the aftermarket parts suppliers. The Harley replacement is better because it's made completely of brass where the aftermarket replacements are made of brass and plastic like the original. To get the old fitting out, thread it with 1/4 X 20 tap and use a bolt, washer, and a deep well socket as a "puller" to get the old fitting out. To press the new fitting in, lubricate the fitting and the hole in the carb and use a vise to press the fitting in. Be sure to position the fitting correctly so that the fuel hose goes on in the right direction. I'm sorry but I don't have the part number handy. Your local dealer can look up the number easily.

Good Luck
Steve

A direct crossover is not likely. The 650 will have a bigger bore. The part numbers are different as well. I believe I found what you need at the following website www.babbittsonline.com be sure to get new gaskets also. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_140.gif

Hi, Bigrocks2 for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. That is the dry-break disconnect - it is not uncommon for these to fracture.
They screw into the fuel pump assembly.
You don't necessarily have to remove the pump from the tank, but advisable to remove tank from bike in order to have good access to remove the old fitting(s). You will need to drain the tank to perform the replacement installation.
To remove the tank, you need to remove the seats, tail section, front tank cover, then unplug the two dry-break fuel lines and the elctrical pump connection - there is also another electrical connection on the underside of the tank, for the fuel level sender, so be sure to unplug that one also. Lastly on the opposite (left) side are the two vent & drain hoses which you can pull off the nipples. Two rubber mounts at the front & the one at the back & tank will be ready to come out.

The fittings are not easikly removed - that is because they have a sealant on them that is almost like epoxy; even when whole, they tend to snap off when you attempt to unscrew them. You will mostly need to use an EZ-out in order to get them out. Be patient - this may be quite tedious but important you get all the plastic & old sealer out of the threads before installing the new ones.

You will be best to replace the male and female parts as a set - the o-rings may be leaking anyway on the male fittings at that vintage.

There are all metal replacements available here as alternative to the OEM plastic ones
http://www.triumph1.com/daytona.htm
Be sure to note there are three different sets availabe so match the correct year for your '98.

When re-assembling the tail, ensure that the correct (short) screws are used in the front fitting - those go into captive threads in the tank. If the wrong screws are used they can puncture the fuel cell - not good!!

Good Luck

Gas line plastic piece that screws into the bottom of the tank broke, need a new one

I'm not sure about the size of your fitting, but I found the same kind of plastic quick connect fittings at Lowes hardware store. most Hardware stores will have them if its the type I'm thinking of. There in the irrigation Department and most are compatible with fuels.See if they will work. Doug
