Question about 1989 Honda XL 600 V Transalp

Oil in the stator?

I'm replacing the stator in my Honda XL600R, there is oil inside the cover. Is there supposed to be a seal behind the flywheel, can't imagine what would need lubricated under this cover.

Thanks, Jim

Does replacing oil seal require removing oil pan on 2004 Honda civic ex 1.7L VTEC automatic?

not normally as it is in the timing cover case or behind the bottom sprocket or drive pullet for the timing belt
if it is a rear main seal it will require the transmission removal as well as the flywheel /torque converter
you were not specific as to which oil seal required replacing.
best get a workshop manual as that book shows the procedure to replace seals

2003 dodge Intrepid 2.7l oil leak above rear main seal after running 20 minutes

rear main seal usually only leaks when the car is running. though oil will slowy drip off afterwards. now the best way to tell is to remove the heat sheild that covers the flywheel and look at it and at the flywheel . is the oil only on the engine side of the cover or is it inside the cover and on the fly wheel. the rear main seal will leak into the bellhousing and on the fly wheel the oil pan gasket will leak on the front of the heat sheild.

Oil leak front engine timing chan

1995 Tracker would have a timing BELT. Normal oil leak points (in order) on a Suzuki G16 engine are the distributor base (rear of motor), valve cover (top of motor), front main seal (behind lower timing belt cog) cam seal (behind the upper timing belt cog) and rear main seal. (behind the flywheel). I'd suspect the front main seal or cam seal. I use foot power to help find oil leaks.

Took cover off there was oil inside is this normal for a c90 to have oil in the stator cover

My clymer manual says yes. Oil is there.
The first thing I have to do is drain the oil and pull the oil filter.
I'm replacing my stator this weekend btw.
I'm not a mechanic, but I'm well inclined and have lots of knowledge and friends that know more than I do.
I hope to have a successful stator replacement on my '07 C90T by 09/26/09
My replacement stator is $173 from regulatorretifier.com. It's advertised to be improved and puts out 20% more juice. It will be in Wed. 09/23
I'll watch your page for updates. . .Joe

I have an oil leak from where the stator wires come out of the primary cover. Is there a way other than changing the whole stator to fix it?

you have some seals that are leaking from around the crankshaft the stator is supposed to be sealed from the oil you wont have to change the stator just the crank seal
