Question about 2001 Aprilia RS 250

No idle Have trouble getting engine to idle. With push button dash what do we press to set idle speed.

This bike does not have an electronicly controlled idle. there should be idle control screws on the carburators, or one main adjustment. also if the bike as sat for some time you might have dirty pilot jets.

If it is older bike the reeds in the carb could be bad or going. Might what to check out the choke also.

Harley trouble shooting

First, check for any error codes:

The speedometer is capable of displaying & clearing speedometer , tachometer TSM/TSSM , HFSM , ECM , ABS Diagnostic Trouble Codes also known as DTC's.

1 - Turn the ignition switch to off & run/stop switch is to run .
2 - Push odometer reset button in & HOLD .
3 - Turn the ignition switch on and then release odometer reset button . The background lighting should illuminate & the speedometer needle should sweep it's full range & indicator lamps ( battery , security , low fuel , check engine and cruise ) should illuminate . The word "DIAG" should then appear .
4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPtb" with the first P flashing .
5 - Each letter represents a area of the diagnostics module . The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check . To move from one letter to the next you must push the odometer reset button one time . ( from P to S to SP to t to b and back to P , ect ect )
SP = speedometer
t = tachometer
b = ABS codes
6 - To get the DTC code in a area of diagnostics you should PUSH & HOLD the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and the release . If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word " none " will appear if there are no DTC's . Push the odometer reset button again to view any additional codes if they exist .
7 - Record the codes .
8 - If DTC's are NOT to be cleared , press and release the odometer reset button . Part #of module will be displayed .
9 - If DTC's are to be cleared for that module , PRESS & HOLD the odometer reset button until " clear " is displayed .
10 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module .
11 - Turn the ignition switch off to exit the diagnostic mode .
If you DO get any error codes, repost them for diagnosis.

How do i bring my idle rpm down on my 2002 cam 88

Ensure that the engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature and the enrichener knob is pushed all the way in BEFORE adjusting engine idle speed. It is possible for a properly warmed up engine to idle above the normal idle range of 950-1050 RPM with the enrichener knob pulled PARTIALLY OUT. If the bike has no tachometer attach one or attach a DIGITAL MULTIMETER equipped with an RPM INDUCTIVE PICKUP over front spark plug cable to monitor engine RPM. Then start the motorcycle engine and let it run until it reaches normal operating temperature with enrichener knob pushed fully in (enrichener closed). Then set the idle speed to 950-1050 RPM using a special CARBURETOR IDLE ADJUSTER and tip. Turn clockwise to increase idle speed and turn counterclockwise to decrease idle speed. The throttle stop screw in on the right or front side of the CV carb.

Diagnostic trouble codes for 2004 harley flhtc

Turn the Ignition switch to the OFF position.
Set the Run/Stop switch to the Run position.
Push in the odometer reset button and hold.
Turn on the ignition switch and release the odometer reset button. The process has been completed correctly when the speedometer needle sweeps across the speedometer and all indicator lamps illuminate. The speedometer will also display "DIAG."
Press the odometer reset button once. "PSSPt" will display on the speedometer. Each letter signifies an area of the diagnostics testing, with the current selection flashing. Push the odometer reset button to scroll through the components for testing.
Press and hold the odometer reset button for 5 seconds, then release. Any codes stored will be displayed on the speedometer. If no codes are stored, the speedometer will display "NONE."
Press the odometer reset button again to view additional codes, if any.
Record the codes and refer to your service manual for possible faults or conditions.
Turn off the Ignition switch to exit the diagnostics testing.

2006 Diamo Turista idle trouble

You need to turn the low speed jet in a counter clockwise rotation to let more fuel in. Do this in small, 1/8 turn rotations and observe the behavior of the engine idling, and with quick throttle response.

My harley wont tick over or ticks over at around 500 rpm then stalls

The engine idle speed is set too low. If the engine is equipped with a carburetor, the idle speed stop screw is located at the top right of the carb. If it's fuel injected, the idle speed is set electronically and you need to take it to a shop to get it set a bit higher. It should be idling at 1000 RPM or so.

2007 fatboy engin dies when pulling in clutch to shift

I could be because the engine idle speed is set too low. Will the bike idle on it's own? If the bike is equipped with a carburetor, the idle speed stop screw is located at the top right side of the carb. You may have to take the air filter cover off to get to it.

If the engine is fuel injected, you'll have to take it to a shop that can set the idle speed as it is controlled electronically.

The speed ometer wont register speed pulled sensor cleaned but still wont read speed and after it warms up to temp the engine service light comes on. And when you let of the throttle it dies like you...

The engine service light coming on indicates that a trouble code has been entered. The trouble codes assist in locating the problem. On some models, (I am not sure about yours because I don't have a service manual on your specific model), you can hold the speedo reset button in while turning on the ignition switch. Once the ignition is switched on, release the button and the first code will come up. By pushing the button again, you can toggle through the various trouble codes. Warning...holding the reset button for longer than 5 seconds will erase the trouble code that is being viewed at that time, so do not hold the button any longer than it takes to toggle between trouble codes. Unfortunately, you will need to reference a service manual for your specific year and model in order to understand what the trouble codes are referring to. Hope this helps.

Check engine light is on

you have a trouble code,to get the code push in and hold speedo reset button and turn ignition on speedo will read diag. release button and push again to see the code,make sure you write them down then clear them out by pressing and holding the button.Then after you record them and erase them turn ignition off. then turn ignition on again and off then check the speedo again and if any of the same codes come back it is a current trouble code

How do you set the cruise control on my 2008 Road King Classic, FLHRCI. I bought the bike, no manual... Thank-you

Luckily, I have a 2008 Road King Classic (FLHRC) WITH a manual!

On the left handlebar switch housing there is a lever below the left turn signal button.
It should be flipped to the right for the cruise control to be on, left is off.

On the right switch housing, is a similar lever, below the right turn signal button.

When you're above the minimum speed (I do not know what this is, but 30 MPH is not fast enough for it to engage), push the lever to the right (towards the grip end). This will "SET" the speed.
If you hit the brakes, or accelerate above a certain rate, the cruise will kick off.
To get back to the set speed, when you're above the minimum speed, flip lever to the left to resume.

When the speed is set and engaged, to increase the set speed, flip right lever to the right, to slow, flip to the left.
