Hi and welcome to FixYa,

It would seem that you posted twice. For the "Push to Start" button:

  • Blue/White - starter relay;
  • Green/Yellow - diode block.
A wiring diagram maybe be found here. You would need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view/print this type of file.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Wiring diagram for a rigid frame with a shovelhead engine

i doubt that one exists for a assembled bobber. but dude all you need are 3 wires on ignition switch 1 from the batt. 1 to the coil 1 to the lights if you want to rewire your bike (kick start only) very simple..1st post on the ignition switch (key switch), 1 wire, from the battery to the ignition. on the second post (key switch), 1 wire from the top post on the coil, (note on the bottom post of the coil another wire goes to your points), on the top post of the coil add 1 wire to one side of the brake light switch, then another wire from the other side of the brake light switch to the brake light, 3rd post (key switch), 2 more wires, 1 to the head light, 1 to the tail light (if you want high beam run a extra off the 3rd post to the hi lo switch then 1 from the hi lo switch to the head lights high beam wire)
last 1 wire from the regulator back to the battery.
you have just rewired your bike. if you have a electric starter then just add another from the 2cnd post (key switch) to the starter button, then 1 from the starter button back to the solenoid.

The colour of the wires headed to the Maxim-X headlight are green and yellow. There is an updated electrical diagram for the X on the Maximum Maxim-X web site ( www.maxim-x.com ) at the following link: http://www.maxim-x.com/pix/electrical/maxim-x_electrical_diagram+plus.pdf

Fuse box diagram 04 sportster

Harley Davidson Wiring Diagrams and Schematics
Hi Anonymous, 1998 and later Sportster models circuit breaker and fuses were located in an electrical bracket behind the starter relay and data link that was mounted behind the left side panel. 1997 and earlier circuit breakers only no fuses were located under the seat and always check fuses and bulbs first, you could have a faulty turn signal module or a bad turn signal button/switch, remove it from the switch housing and check for continuity, check your wiring and connections from the turn signal switch to the turn signal module with a testlite. Make sure all wires are not worn or pinched and connector pins are not corroded, broken, or loose. For a free wiring diagram please visit the website below. Good luck and have nice day.

Lighting problem with 2002 Sportster 883. Head Light, Front running light and rear light not working. Turn signals are working properly. Seems like I have had a short somewhere. Any troubleshootng help...

Hi Seanwbaker, 1998 and later Sportster models circuit breaker and fuses were located in an electrical bracket behind the starter relay and data link that was mounted behind the left side panel. 1997 and earlier circuit breakers only no fuses were located under the seat.
You need to get out your test light and find the short and start by making sure the battery has 12 volts or more and clean tight connections especially the ground cable at both ends. If your issues involves lights always check the bulbs for broken filiments and fuses first. Then start at the socket and work your way towards the handlebar switches checking each wiring harness connector for corroded, broken or loose pins and remember dielectric grease is your friend. Check the switches for continuity and work your way towards the ignition switch and check it for continuity. Keep working your way to the fuses and circuit breaker and finally the battery. I have a 2001 Electra glide standard from the USA. I need to add the low beam for Canadian standards any suggestions. At present when the lights are on only spots come on at front or high beam when...

Someone has evidently rewired the lights on your bike. The spot lights are supposed to be controlled by a seperate switch from the headlight which is supposed to have a high and low beam setting on the handlebars.

Now, figuring out where they made the switch is the problem. I would imagine that the changes have been made behind the headlight. Pull the head light out and look at the head light wiring harness. It should have three wires, yellow, white, and black. It you'll contact me directly at wd4ity@bellsouth.net I will send you a diagram of the fairing wiring for a 1989 that may help. It shows you the typical wiring for these lights on an FLHTCU. I may be able to find another wiring diagram as well. I can't send them here because this forum will only allow a file size of 150K. Direct e-mail will work and I'll send a JPEG file to you.

The brake light on my 2001 softail is always on. I am looking for a wiring diagram

you don't need a wiring diagram to fix this, what you do need is to know what to look for. you have two swtichs for your brake light front brake lever and rear. i would start at the front because it is just a push switch. start be unpluging the gang plug for the rh handlebar switch housing has your brake light gone off?? if so you front brake switch isn;t working if not then check you rear switch unplug it from the harness. light off? if so your rear swtich is bad. check into and let me know

No power at the high/ low beam switch, so no head rear markers

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

On your concerns:
  • no headlight - check for +12 on blue wire from fusebox (preferably use a testlight rather than a voltmeter) to headlight switch; do the same to the blue / yellow wire from headlight switch to dimmer switch; the headlight switch is also responsible for switching the rear lights;
  • regulator connector - it is normal for the 3 yellow wires & the white wire to heat up as they pass the charging current to the battery and supply to the bike when running; cause of burning would be loose connection; it may be corrected by cleaning and tightening joint by crimping the female and force fit the male; a bit of electrical grease would be good;
  • wiring diagram - this version might be of help;
  • service manual - try here.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa
