CHECK FLOAT LEVEL IS CORRECT. IF YES CHANGE OUT FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP. OLD DUMP TRUCKS GET A LOT OF RUST IN FUEL TANK. YOU MAY NEED TO COAT THE INSIDE OF TANK. THERE ARE COATING KITS AVAILABLE.

How do I adjust my carborator

Some time in the early eighties GM took away the ability to manually adjust the carburetor on passenger vehicles. There may be plastic clips on the bottom front of your motorhome carb. If there are you may be able to break the plastic off, exposing the air/fuel idle screws. Keep in mind that these will only allow you to adjust the idle mixture. Sounds more like you may need a carb rebuild or replacement. Could also be a sensor.

84 f150 carburetor out of tune

When you get a rebuilt carb you have no idea what the
applications are for

I suggest you rebuild your own,
that way you have all the settings
& experience when your done

I think the float needs to be set correctly
& maybe the pump if there is anything for that
external

You have to have some knowledge about basic
adjustments of air idle screws

Start about one turn out from seated & then use a
vacuum gauge to get the highest reading & then go in
a 1/4 turn
Can use a tach also or both, then reset the timing

I would have all 3 on motor at once

When done you set the idle screw with air cleaner on

My 1992 dodge dakota wont run. i will start it but i will have to feather the gas to keep it alive. it has over a half a tank of gas in it can you help me?

when was this vehicle as serviced?
this could one of several issues.

1 the idle jet on the carborator maybe dirty so the engine is not getting enough fuel at tickover to keep running.
2 the fuel filter is blocking up and may need replacment.
3. the carborator may need an overhaul as the float chamber is not activating correctly.
4. fuel cap may be blocked give a run with the fuel cap off see if that helps. if you get aload hiss each time you fill up that indiates a blocked fuel cap which will need clearing or replacing.
5. dirt in the fuel line if filled from jerry cans contaminents can get in th tank and block the line. when you put pressure on the gas this causes higher vacum from the pump and hides the problem.
6 airfilter may be blocking and needs replacement so there is not enough air at ldle.
7 check plugs if they are sooty or covered in white then the mix is wrong and needs resetting. or indicats reduced fuel or air to engine.
8. plugs may need replacement.

Cant pass e-test. burning alot of gas, think i might need a new carborator and cant find a number on it? its a 2.6 five speed 1988. wondering if i can get a rebilt kit for it?

Before you rebuilt your carb., use a product called seafoam, available at most auto parts stores. this will clean your carb. and could make a huge difference. I believe it is worth a try.

Its possible you have some heavy vacuum leaks? I'd inspect every thing well to identify an open line or poor seal drawing air in.
I hope this may have helped,

Idles rough plugs are white runs and drives good but idles rough everything has just been rebuilt and checked all vacuum lines are where they go i dont think it could be timing but

sounds like the same problem I had with my 1985. I have found that when the carborator goes bad. It gets an internal vacume leak that can,t be fixed. I wen,t through 9 rebuilt ones that all had the same problem. put on a aftermarket weber carb & has ran fine for the last 7 years.

Truck won't idle

If your truck won't idle then most likely it's your idle control sensor, if it's fuel injected. If it's carborated then the carborator may need rebuilding.
