2011 harley davidson heritage softail classic, service manual

The factory Harley-Davidson manuals are the best of all available service manuals. However, in my years of spinning wrenches on Harleys, I've found parts manuals to be a valuable asset. The HD parts books show expanded views of each assembly. If you take anything off the bike then disassemble it there is no guesswork in the reassembly. This is an example of an expanded view(smooth bore CV carburetor). Notice each part is numbered and by studying the diagram it's a simple matter to reassemble the carb.
14860823-oocj1x2drphoyb5k2kyew3cf-2-0.jpg Obtaining the parts book/manual can be problematic. Some Harley-Davidson dealers don't/won't sell them. However, many dealers will sell a parts book with no problem One thing to keep in mind; parts books aren't sold every day, therefore , most will need to be ordered. Finally, much Harley-Davidson service work requires "special" tools available from Harley-Davidson or Kent Moore. Knock-off tools are around, however, in my experience, most aren't worth having. Good luck and happy motoring!

2005 sportster 883 stopped at light, put into 1st, bike will move but will not come out of gear and has play and shift lever

Sounds like you have a broken shifter pawl. It's behind the clutch assembly in the primary cover. You'll have to take the outer primary cover off, remove the engine sprocket and clutch assembly. The shifter mechanism is behind the clutch assembly. I would suggest the purchase of a service manual if you plan on fixing the bike yourself. In this particular case, the pictures in the book are worth a thousand words. It will show you how to adjust the shifter pawl with a simple picture where it would take me four pages to describe how to do it and we still may not get it right. Look at it this way, if you fix the bike yourself, the money you save by using the book will more than pay for the book and the next time you use it, it's free. At today's labor prices, it don't take long. Thirty minutes to an hour labor will pay for the book.

Good Luck

How to create an website? because that was our test in my school.

Within Microsoft Office, there is a publishing programme call FrontPage. This is very useful to put web pages together and if you use the F1 button, all you will ever need to know will be there written by Microsoft Engineers as a tutorial.
The first thing you need is a web site from an IP supplier like They cost anything from £4.00 for a basic name to hundreds of pounds for hosted sites.
Good luck and spend as long as you need with the tutorial.

Started bike then died battery needs charged didnt get book where is battery located

The battery is usually located on the left side (same side as shifter) of the bike under the side cover. Simply pull off the side cover to access the battery.

Hope this helps. If you find this information useful, please vote on this post. Thank you.

Can you tell me how much fork oil goes in my 1990 softail?

If your bike has the 41mm fork tubes, (measure the upper fork tube diameter), like a wide glide. there are two measurements. If you simple drain the tubes and refill, you use the "wet" measurements. If you disassemble and clean up the inside of the tubes, use the "dry" measurement. The book says use "type E" oil.

Wet - 10.2 oz
Dry - 11.2 oz.

Good Luck

I need a manual showing basic maintence. Oils, how to find the drain plug for the oil, etc.

You didn't say what model bike. I do not believe that Harley ever published a single book of how to service all their models. You must have a service model for each model group.

Now that seems difficult but really it's not. Harley groups their bikes into about three models of Big Twins and Sportsters. Sportsters are all the same, the same applys to the Softail line, the Dyna line, and the Dresser line. Take the Dyna series. This line inclues the Dyna Wide Glide, the Dyna Convertable, the Dyna Low Rider, and the Dyna Super Glide. They all service the same way. It's simple just remember how much oil goes in each one, the transmission is the same (except Sportster), and primary quantity. Since Harley went to the Syn3 oil that they use everywhere. It's simple these days.

Now, for servicing the front forks you need the specific service manuals because of the differences in the front fork assemblies.

Good luck

Wiring diagram for 1980 triumph t140v ignition

Get a Haynes Manual. I work on my own bikes with a Factory Manual, The Haynes or Clymer Manual and a Parts Book. If you are going to do your own work you need these books. Period.

Here are some simple diagrams that give the basic idea of what works for the Typanium Rectifier set up.

Here is a good site for "Home Mechanics".. I love this site.. has some great Triumph stuff and repair info.

The forks need to come apart.
I highly recommend getting the factory service and repair manual.
You will need a seal driver tool, and measure the correct amount of fork oil. This isn't a simple job, and it's why I recommend the book.

To access the battery you will need to remove the seat which will expose the battery compartment top cover, remove the cover to access the battery.
