The nut is a 5/8 socket, its almost directly under the seat on the bottom of the engine. Best to pull out the dipstick to drain the oil quicker. Use a new washer when you refit the sump plug to prevent leaks.

Yes you will have a small amount of oil left in the crank case, but not enough to have any concern about, What I do is drain the oil from the drain plug, pull the oil cap out from the oil resivoir , then remove the oil filter and do it all on the kick stand, that is more than suffiant to drain you oil from your engine. It is the same way a Harley mechanic does it at the shop. Good luck, Rick
