Looses power in third gear at 6000+ revs

It seem as if the carbs are not getting any petrol at 6000 revs. (She idles fine).
We check the computer box, carbs, coils, plugs and pick ups, they all fine. What can it be.

Just want to share, I have almost the same exact problem, when running at around 110km/h above...it seems the strong ram air is blowing off fuel back into the float bowl.

when i checked it vacuum or air hoses where improperly connected.

Hi again,

Appreciate the postback.

A couple of ideas you may want to explore:

  • clean the fuel tank, built-in filter of the fuel valve, the fuel-valve itself;
  • check the fuel line, it may have fattened and restricts flow. Likewise check for kinks, sharp bends;
  • float settings of the carbs;
  • replace/remove external fuel filter if one is being used;
  • might as well check for vacuum leaks especially at the front of the rubber coupling and the clamps;
  • further check for air leaks at the base mount of the air filter/cleaner box and how they is mated to the carbs.
Cheers.

Agility 50 starts and idles well, but when given any throttle it bogs down and stalls... noticed fuel coming out of the air filter box ...

This seems to be a problem from your air intake (assuming it is 2 stroke) until the combustion chamber. If it has a valve system then it could be faulty. The valve has a small flap that flickers when petrol is thrown inside the combustion chamber. Basically when you open the throttle the engine tends to go to a higher revs, hence suction on petrol intake increases. What you have described means no petrol into the combustion chamber and hence tends to die out. So few things u need to check are:
1- Petrol flow to the carb
2- Carburator is blocked somewhere
3- Reed valve intake is damaged and hence you can see petrol popping out of the carb.

For now, I think this should be enough to help you, but please advise if it is a 4 stroke as then it could be different.

As i take it off iddle the bike runs rough between 1000 and 2000 rev coughs and splutters so riding around town is a problem out on the main road is fine been into pro cycles in hastings they seem to think...

HEy bedfords, Sounds like a blocked pilot/idling jet, go get youself some carb cleaner to poor into ypur petrol tank, if that fails then carbs need to come off and cleaned...also check tank for build up of rust,dirt, etc.

I have a mazda astina familia 1.5 automatic. i have had the transmission checked by a technician and it is fine. i am getting power loss from engine.it seems the engine has to go into high revs before...

i think you need a new mechanic, i got that problem twice, each time the transmission had to be changed because the 1st gear was shot. i eventually changed to a 5fwd gear-box which increased performance like you would never imagine.

Wont rev past 3/8 throttle!! I NEED HELP.

could be. I had a 91 kx 250 that was acting crazy and it turned out to be the stator and cdi box. you can check the stator easly with a omes meter but the cdi box is nearly impossible to check. you pretty much have to buy a new one and try it. also check to see if your power valve is working.
