Jeep LIberty 2006 valve stem broke off

A nice gentleman offered to use his wrench to take off the last metal cap (I replaced the rest w/plastic for this reason) on my valve stem so that I could put air in the tire and it broke off with the cover still on it. The tire went fully flat, so I put on the spare. The guy at the garage said that they are expensive and he had no idea what to do with it, so we put the flat tire on the back of the Jeep.

With the sensor system, what do I need to do to have the valve stem replaced? Do I have to go somewhere special? Can they use what came off to put into a new valve stem or do I have to end up buying some overpriced part with overpaying for someone to install it??

Any info would be great!
Thanks,
CW

Another stupid "gizmo" which is totally unnecessary on any vehicle.
Any decent repair shop can do this work or, bring it to a dealer. Personally I'd try and find a way to disable that system and use "normal" valves.Anyone who is too dumb to use a tire gauge should not be driving in the first place!!! I know this is not a clarification but this kind of thing makes me really angry!!!

Just go to a tire store. They can resolve your problem quickly. A valve stem is a common item.

Need help replacing abs sensor on 2006 jeep liberty front driver side

You will find it bolted in to the hub assembly, behind the rotor, I believe you will need a 10mm wrench to remove it, pull straight up and out

I have a 2005 H2, Tires need air, but can't get tire strems off.will WDforty spray work

If you mean the plastic caps on the valve stems, wd40 should help loosen them. I've had to use a small pair of pliers to loosen them. When you get them off, replace them with some nice aftermarket metal caps. They look much better and won't have the tendency to distort and lock up when you tighten them.

Replaced my tires and two of my tire pressure sensors snaped and now after driving for about 10 minutes or less the service tire pressure system keeps comming on, but when i hit the step buttom it goes...

It sounds like the problem I had - I had bought replacement valve stem caps (metal). When I went to take them off to replace the tires, they were stuck and snapped off. Apparently, the valve stems for the auto-pressure monitoring units are alloy and not stainless steel and the replacement caps reacted with them and got corroded and stuck on. Unfortunately, Jeep does not just sell the individual valve stems for these units - you have to purchase the entire pressure sensor unit for the wheel (~$200 apiece). I ended up replacing all 4 sensor units for the wheels, and will leave the plastic caps on them from now on!

i work at a tire shop and have done tires and mechanic work since 1998 the only way that ive seen the vavle stem sensor physically break is during tire removal or installation on the wheel if the person dont do it right either the arm on the machine or pulling the tire tight on the sensor will snap it right off or atleast crack it and it will break at a later time

The brake lights on my 2006 jeep liberty do not last long and it seems like the bulbs are melting the lens.

Have seen this many times on the liberty. End up replacing the whole assembly from the dealer. Seems to solve the issue.
