Stolen keys-no key fob-last locked with fob-need alarm RIPPED out-HELP

My car keys have been stolen, leaving me with just the spare valet key. I last locked the car with the fob, and now cant get it to start. Closest Hyundai dealer is over 6 hours away, and they told me to rip out the alarm. Anyone know the right wires to cut??? Or have another solution??? Please help! Keys were stolen by a homeless, drunk man in Fairbanks, AK - and I am only visiting! Thank you!

This is what eventually worked - (tried this before blindly RIPPING out my alarm system) - Opened door with key, alarm blaring, key into ignition, turn to ON, wait, alarm disarms and resets. Problem solved, no need to get a new transmitter, just using the key, or inside buttons to lock/unlock.

Try disconnecting the battery and then try again.

SOURCE: Jeep starts and runs for about five seconds then cuts off

obviously the dealer did not correctly complete the repair, therefore should be more involved in current problem. If your vehicle had any anti-theft device installed, be aware that many have delayed shut down features built in. I'd look there first, providing yo did not have any similar problem pryor to the theft.
Good luck!!

You can go to the dealer and have the new remote and the car re-programed so they match and the old luck transmitter with not work on your car. Good luck

SOURCE: lost car keys to T-reg Ford Mondeo

Don't do that yet, You have two best options, 1st. before you go though all that, hoping Toyota still keep the key code back from 1998 other wise you have to go with 2nd option. take your registration or title to the dealership and ID card showing them your the owner to that car. any toyota dealership would be able to cut another key for that car with the vin number, its allot cheaper and less head ache replacing it; will cost couple of bucks. 2nd call a lock smith, they will come out and cut the key for about 100-150 bucks using the the trunk unit and you still be able to use the keys for everything. Replacing your ignition will be much more and you have to fiddle and installing it. it not that hard but time consuming although i would make it my last options. If you have car insurance, some of them may have a lock out policy. they pay for the lock smith to come out and cut the keys.

SOURCE: key fob stolen

You CAN reprogram it. You'll have to look for the exact directions, but it CAN be done. It has to do with turning the ignition to the RUN position a number of times, and then pressing one of the buttons on the existing fob. I just did it this past weekend. It worked!

Do you have a key fob? Unlock the car with that and you should be OK. My sons Elantra is the same way, you can only get in with the fob. I guess the car thinks it's being stolen otherwise. If you don't have a fob, I'm no help
