How does the seat on a 2005 Triumph S3 open

I've owned this bike for 5 years and never been able to get the seat to open. Bought it second hand, so no owners manual. The key inserts into the seatlock on the frame and turns about an 1/8" counter-clockwise, I pull up on the sides, rear and front. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Grrr. Thanks in advance, Geo

SOURCE: tiger triumph 2008 brand new wont start... help

ok
you have a problem with the starter not turning the engine. so we probily not sending a signal to the starter.
you realy confused me when you started talking about gas and choke?
if the engine doesnt turn over none of this even matters.

these new bikes have many safety features .
you have a sensor for netural and you have a sensor for your kickstand and a sensor for your clutch
and all of these have to be workinf right for your engine to turn over.
so with your kickstand up and the bike in netural and the clutch lever pulled in
it should turn over and start.
when it doesnt you need to check your wiring to the switches one might have come loose.
or could be a bad switch.
let us know what you find

SOURCE: FRONT WHEEL SPACERS 97 TRIUMPH DAYTONA 1 OR 2

i think the speedo drive has a little molded ridge on it which should slide into a slot on the fork leg, thus stopping the drive from spinning round the spindle. drop the front spindle out and align the drive correctly and then slide back the spindle and bolt it all up and you should be all good to go.

Hi,
Sounds like either your thermostat isn't working, or the switch on the side of the rad which tells the fan to switch on is faulty. They are cheap and easy to replace using a Haynes manual or similar.

How can I reduce the seat height of my Triumph Speed Triple 1050, 2005? Cheers. Tim.

Use a blade screw driver to remove the cover. Once off, you can use your fingers to slowly pry the cushion from the seat frame - it's lightly glued.

Now trim away at the cushion at the side that attaches to the seat frame - NOT the 'up' side. If you don't have an electric knife (e.g., turkey knife), just use a cheap, but long, bread knife. The cheap ones are more flexible and you may need the blade to be a bit flexible.

Cut in strips from the front to the beginning of the pilion rise. No need to cut down the foam underneath the pilion. Do so in shallow cuts trying to maintain the basic "flatness" of the base foam. Every quarter inch you should put the seat back on the bike to do a fit check until you've reach the seat height you want.

Cutting the seat down this way will allow the next owner to easily build up the seat from the bottom and not mess with shaping in anyway. I know this because I bought an '05 S3 with a cut down seat and had it built back to slight taller than stock for only $80.

When reassembling, you will want to spray a light coating of contact cement on the foam and seat pan to make sure it won't slip. Attaching the cover over the foam requires a decent electric or pneumatic staple gun. The manual ones DO NOT have the power to drive the staples into the '05 S3 seat pan...it's very hard.

Good luck.
