1980 Suzuki Gs450L won't start. I stalled out pretty bad in 4th gear and it won't start back up after. Bike won't even crank over, just makes a clicking noise. Any ideas?

Re: 1980 Suzuki Gs450L won't start. I stalled out...
Pull the plugs then crank motor you may find one cylinder full of gas and that will keep it from cranking, if it cranks without the plugs allow it to dry for a bit , make sure plugs are dry then install and hopefully GO!

This is a bit vague.. If engine is running an you select a gear but nothing.. I would look to the drive between the crank and gearbox.. this goes via the clutch and could be the issue..
This sounds dumb but check the obvious.. start at the back wheel and work back.. check chain and front sprocket.. then ensure you can select gears and then clutch and primary drive..
sorry turns over means ZERO the crank shaft can spin or not the starter can in fact spin and crankshaft not. and some think turns over means, engine runs. now that fact makes turns over, a dead statement.
the word is cranks over, the engine cranks over robustlyl and then the engine runs. then runs for more that 3 seconds, and the ASD relay holds. (step by step his works like this ,93 to now)
wont crank ? (clear statement in fact) cranks ok, (crank shaft spins fast) can be seen and heard. runs for 3 seconds? and stalls (ASD relay drop out) can be seen. runs for 5min and stalls. (complex) runs for hours and stalls. (even more complex) all are key facts to the solution.
tell more..... tell all it does good bad or ugly for better suggestions!
It is OK to jump start your motorcycle from a car battery as long as you do not crank the starter too long (it will burn the armature) and as long as the car/other vehicle is not running when you jump start your bike ( you can damage your electrical components( igniter box)). See if you can exchange one with a friend to see if that is the bad component.
Shoot WD40 into each cylinder to get them wet. Change gearbox oil and oil filter. Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. How bad is the rust inside the gas tank? I would consider a liquid tank liner if rusted. Google“ kreem fuel tank liner “or go towww.http://www.4secondsflat.com/Fuel_Tank_Sealer.html
Lube chain or get a new chain (if needed)
Lube Throttle, clutch and front brake cables
Lube Speedometer cable
Grease the swingarm, axle and steering stem bearings.
Install a new battery
Clean, and balance the carbs. This will be the problem area. They will likely be gummed up pretty good. Be sure to install an in-line fuel filter before starting the bike.
