SOURCE: bike wont run when choke is at half way setting

Sounds a lot like fouled fuel jets in your carb; you may have a little work to do.
If the jets do not allow sufficient fuel to pass, using the choke can 'cheat' the carburetor by restricting the flow of air and restoring the fuel-air ratio. You can't ignore this problem since the 'cheated' condition does not let the engine develop the power for which it was designed.

SOURCE: engine only runs with choke on

dear honda 750 your problem is a pluged main jet you must completley disasseble the carbs and give them a good cleaning with carb cleaner and comp air visually check to make sure you can see light through the jets after cleaning. your choke system by passes the jets that is why it runs on the choke setting only. hope this helps jim

SOURCE: SPUTTERING WHEN HOLDING 50-60 MPH

Since it ran fine before you "fixed" it, go back over the things you changed. Put the old spark plugs back in it. Double check all spark plug wires and ignition connections. Put the bike in a dark area and run it at night, can you see any arcing anywhere?

SOURCE: starts and stays running with choke on. stalls

Pay special attention to the parts in red. DO NOT mix parts from the front carb with parts from the back carb. When removing adjuster screws and jets, count the number of turns to remove them, write it down, and replace with the same number of turns.

Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

Go to this site and you can download a free PDF service manual.
www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp Most all of the manuals are in English but some are not. There is no way to be sure without doing the download. You can always delete it if in a foreign language.

SOURCE: magna engine surges

The carbs may need to be cleaned. Try running seafoam in the tank first and see if that clears some of it up. The slow jets may be plugged up inside the carbs. If the snorkel had been removed from the airbox, it could cause siminlar problems as well. have you changed the spark plugs yet? be sure to check out the Honda Magna forums for more info:

remove the carbs and have them professionally overhauled
indicates a problem in the high speed circuit , probably a blockage
might also be an incorrect float level that is not allowing enough fuel into the bowl for hgfh speed operation

Have a 90 f-250 5.8 gas burner. sat in a warehouse for 2 years. new battery and gas. starts and idles great. run up rpms for 2 minutes and it starts choking out. let off fuel and goes back to idling...

Carburetta is fouled. Run fine on choke - rich mixture. As it warms up and choke pulls off, its starving for gas.
First try adding fuel system cleaner to the gas tank. Do NOT go overboard. No more than double the recommended mix ratio.
The alternative is to remove the carb, open the bowl and spray out the jets and venturi with carb cleaner.

Its possible you may help it by removing the air filter and spraying every orifice you find on top of the carb. With carb cleaner. Be very carefull not to flood, pool carb cleaner in intake as this is not healthy for engine either. You can do this with engine running, so as not to pool, but slowly is best, both in engine speed and volume of carb cleaner.

1983 Mazda RX7 lacks power rough or no idle

Sounds like carb idle air or fuel jets are clogged.. Test pressure with a gauge to be sure. Float level and drop needs to be exact.. Operation of the whole carb relies on this. Probably why you are not getting any change in your air/fuel adjustments.
