Test the brake light switch located at the brake pedal, disconect the switch & bridge the wires, turn ignition on if you have lights its a faulty switch (very common on ford falcons) if not check you have power at that plug, if power check the globes cause you could have blown globes as they are twin filiment globes (1 globe but 2 lights tail & brake) & the brake filiments might be blown.

looking at your schematics and , you say tail lights don't work , you didn't mention if front parking lights and license plate lights are working , they all come from the same source , a black /yellow wire , a good clue if front work and rear don't , please advise .if fronts work then you have a open circuit somewhere between junction S118 (near breakout for left headlamp) and rear sockets.

SOURCE: 2001 ford explorer sport trac

Just found the answer on another site. Sure enough went out removed the 3 philips head screws in the steering column opened it up and walla a wire connection had pulled itself free. When my son uses my truck he always uses the tilt steering, when I get in I have to readjust it. because of this the wire connection pulled itself out. I simply pushed it back in an blinker and brake light are now working. My husband is now trying to figure a way to secure the wire connection so it doesn't pull itself out again. Hope this helps others, either by saving the cost of a dealership or machanic or from getting rear ended.

SOURCE: Right brake light out; tail light works fine

most rear tail lights and turn/stop lights are the same dual filiment bulb. it is possible for your tail light to work and your brake light not to and still have a bad bulb. I would check the bulb first, your brake light works on the left yes? this would mean that the fuse is fine

SOURCE: brake lights won't work. tail lights do. I

need to know if your third brake light up high is working or not.if it isn't,you need to check the brake light switch on the brake pedal with a test light, one side hot all the time, the other side should turn hot when brake pedal is pushed.

What wrong with my brake light.

Probably a blown bulb. Tail bulbs come with 2 filaments. One lights up when the parking lights are on and the other lights up when you press the brake pedal.
Rellace the bulb.

Tail lights wont come on when the headlights are on yet they work when you press down on the brake.

When yu press the brake pedal you activate the brake lights not tail lights. The tail lights are a separate circuit. Check bulbs and fuse, the theswitch.

Tail lights wont come on in 2001 toyota corolla

Check brake light switch, probably under dash,
on or next to brake pedal lever.
If bulbs and switch[es] check out, have helper press pedal,
and check for voltage/power at sockets.

Left tail light wont work when brake pedal was pressed

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, please check the bulbs for it can be blown. If the bulbs are good then it can be just a blown fuse for the tail light.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one

No brake lights

Possible blown fuse or bulbs need replaced. Also check to see if the switch at the top end of the brake pedal's arm activates when the brake is applied. If it doesn't you'll need to replace it. Good luck

Brake lights will not come on. It is not the bulb. The tail lights work.

The tail lights working would not necessarily mean that the brake light bulbs are good. If they are the type that have a double filament (ie: one filament for the tail light and another filament for the brake light ) the brake light filament could be bad and the tail lights still would work. If they are either single filament type bulbs or double filament type, I would check the bulb, fuses, and contact switch on the brake pedal.

My tail lights dont work, its not a fuse, my blinkers and reverse lights work, its just my running lights and my brake lights that dont, any suggestions?

check the wire harness that runs from inside the trunk on the drivers side follow it down to the tail light and make shure the wires are not damaged or unplugged remove cover on the drivers side inspect the bulbs the holders and the wires and dont forgt to retighten all grounds that you find on your travels this should get the rear tail lights working also check the brake pedal switch up on the metal part of the brake pedal arm follow it up tp the brake pedal switch and acuate the switch by hand and check the wire voltage coming in and going out when pressing the brake pedal ok give this a shot
