Question about 1997 Honda CBR 600 F(3)V

1 Answer

97 honda cbr 600f3 shifting, gears, etc.

Is all the transmissions on the 97 cbr f3 6 speed? I just bought one and it seems to have only five gears. I try to go one more but Im toped out and it wont shift up anymore. It drives great and zips down the highway at 5,500 rpms doing about 85 mph. in 5th. gear. Is that normal?
The clutch works fine but does seem soft and when I go from neutral to 1st gear it clicks into gear kinda hard(not smooth) it isnt hard to put it into gear it just seems like it should be a smooth transition. Is that normal? Just wondering if there is a problem or it is just a five speed trans.

just changed the engine and it runs great in first and finding neutral is smooth no noises in shifting but won't go into a higher gear

It should be 1 down and 5 up. About the 5500rpm at 85... That sounds about right with stock gearing. Let me know if i can help further. Good luck and happy holidays. Jay

I have a 1984 Harley Davidson ,transmission problem:does not shift into 3rd gear after riding 25 miles.Just need some ideas what this problem could be.

Ok, we need to determine whether you have a transmission problem or a clutch problem. Ride the bike until it will no longer shift into third gear. Then stop the bike and turn the engine off. While rocking the bike backwards and forwards, try to shift the transmission though all the gears. If it shifts through the gears there, you have a clutch problem if it will not shift though all the gears, you have a transmission problem.

Please try this and repost with me. I need to know whether your transmission is a five speed or four speed. I seem to remember that those bikes had a four speed that year.

Let me know what you find.

Good luck
Steve

How many rpms should i go on my honda cbr 600

hi,i dont know a lot about this particular bike, but,as with any high revving sports bike you will need to keep the revs up before changing gear,an 883 sportster has a lot more torque than your bike and you can "short shift "them and let the torque do the work, however on a cbr i think you will need more rpm before you shift as they dont have the torque of your old harley,a friend of mine has an r6 yamaha, that thing revs out to nearly 17000 rpm he doesnt change untill about 9 or 10000 rpm, from memory your bike should be capable of nearly 60mph in first gear..hope this helps...cheers

96 CBR 600F3 runs for approx 10Min then stalls out.

Check the vacuum pipe from the carbs to the fuel tap, if its gat a pin hole in as you demand more fuel the vacuum loss cuts downthe fuel flow and the bike will stop!

It has nothing to do with the transmission, it's your engine mount thats bad.

2008 HONDA cbr 125 Popping out of 5th Gear

Only three things would cause the problem. 1) a slightly beny shift fork, 2) a shift index wheel loose, 3) the foot shift lever needs to be adjusted.

The most likely source is the shift lever needing to be lower. Once you are in 5th gear you move your foot to the top iof the pedal in preparation for a downshift. At high speed your entire body is leaning forward FOOT INCLUDED. Chances are that enough pressure is on the pedal to move the slider gear out of position and thus out of 5th gear.

I hope I am right in the solution. Best wishes.
