Question about 2005 Yamaha TT-R 125 L

1 Answer

I have a 2003 TT-R125 and it's always been hard to start.

Once it is warm,it's fine.Is it true that they put better carbs on the 2007 and up?If that's the case....Could I put a newer carb and solve the problem?
I heard that these older TT-R125 are all hard to start, especially if they haven't been started for a week or so.
I heard of a mechanic enlarged a needle valve hole and it started easy after that ,but it was hard on gas and easy to foul plugs.

Just like in all cases when it gets colder outside, simply add a fuel stabilizer or HEAT to the fuel tank

TT-R 125 LE no spark

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and CDI box.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose, check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil, pick up coil, trigger coil or CDI box testing needs to be checked with an ohmmeter at 70 degrees Fahrenheit
7. Faulty safety switches clutch, kickstand, neutral, off/on etc.
8. Faulty ignition switch.

How do I tell if my bike is a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke

Hi, Anonymous if the exhaust smokes it's a 2T if it has a reed valve between the carb and cylinder it's a 2T if the tach redlines above 10K it's a 2T then there is always the VIN # from the info above that bike is a 4T for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one. I have a 2003 ttr225 I can get the bike to start with the choke on ihave to let it warm up for an extremly long time before I can push in the choke . once the bike is warm and I hit the throttle hard ,...

Sounds like the idle circuit in the carb is restricted. The engine is running on the choke only. When the engine reaches a certain temp the fuelthat does get is more readily burned allowing you to back off the choke. The choke probsbly can't be completely opened? right? Fuel quality is also something to consider Oil content in fuel affects combustion temps and volatility. _good luck_Ned_

My Yamaha ttr 125 won't start. I cleaned the carb a few days ago and was able to jump start it with my car. I let it run for a while. but now i can't start it again, even when i try to jump it. What's...

I just had a similar issue. Bike would start when cold but once warmed up would die and not restart. My problem was the throttle valve. Check it by removing the black breather pipe at the rear of the carb. Look in the carb and twist the throttle. You should see the throttle valve slide up and down.
