has been in the shop, they cannot find the problem, we have changed coil, ignition switch, fuel pump, crankshaft sensor, nothing has helped. 2000 Chevy Blazer 4whd, can any one help? also the gas gauge does not work.

we have just changed the distributor also. so many parts replaced...however no one has suggested the intake leaking coolant, will check that out. the vehicle does not run rough at idle, only at around 45 mph, does it start bucking, stalling...backfire...

catalytic converter not the problem ,that was the first thing we did. when the vehicle starts all this and the gauges go haywire...it completely shuts down any computer hooked up to it. mechanic tried several times to get it to give codes when it happened, but always shut down his equipment. any help at this point is very much needed and helpful, we have been dealing with this problem off and on for a year. it doesn't always mess up, it can go a few days, weeks or months. then all the sudden it won't go for nothing.

Gas gague not working it's a common problem with the fuel sending units. Intake leaking coolant also a problem sometimes runs into engine causing it to run erratic. The distributor gear wears and cause misfires rough running. EGR getting stuck open cause of carbon makes the vehicle run rough at idle I hope this helps I know it a lot to look at but...

Is there any codes stored in the computer. Is the catalytic converter any good. A plugged catalytic converter could cause it to misfire run poorly... We are kind of throwing darts here I'm just giving you ideas in case there's something they or you missed. If there's codes please report.

I have a 2002 gmc yukon. Flywheel was re0laced and since then the instrument cluster goes haywire when driving. Runs great. No other problems. All ground wires are fine. Any suggestions?

If you are sure you caused no damage to the wiring then here is what is known, this year of GMC and Chevy truck instrument clusters have all kinds of issues with defective gauges and other issues, see it all the time and there are factory letters (these are not recalls, they are called TSB's) about it. You don't say EXACTLY what is going on so that handicaps me, but I think you will need to remove the cluster to have it rebuilt, many online repair facilities do this repair, they charge about $250-$300 for the rebuild. They will supply a shipping box and the turn around time is fairly quick.

98 blazer LS 4.3 no start/no spark.Engine cranks. After haywire rpm gauge -eng miss-stalled & no start. Aftr install new batt,-rpm & speedo gagues pinned & stuck at peak.Still no start

Did you check primary voltage at the ignition coil? Pink wire, goes hot with the key on, any voltage there? That voltage comes from ecm 1 fuse.

I haven't looked for info on your instrument cluster, yet.

Where is the input and output connection for the instrument cluster.

Behind the panel. All of them. Need year, make, and model to tell you how to remove it.

Engine Warning light is on - Held odometer and got a code 9A9E. \r\nFord Focus 06.

  • Hi I can help.
  • The code is saying something is wrong with the instrument cluster possibly the PCM because the PCM sends a vehicle speed signal to the cluster to "roll" the odometer. If the signal goes a few seconds without being received the instrument panel goes a little haywire.

  • So you need to pull the cluster forward and clean the connectors and check real good for corrosion etc. Plug the cluster back in and run a code test again.

  • If the same code pulls then replacing the instrument panel is recommended. If this does not fix the replacement of the PCM may be needed.

  • You can also go and have the car scanned with an actual Ford scan tool and this may be able to better pin point on weather the PCM or cluster is at fault. This scan would not be a free one at your local auto parts store. This would have to be done at a shop.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

My Gas gage is off track i wanna fix it without going to the shop

GM's instrument clusters installed on 03-06 year models have faulty stepper motors installed on the instrument clusters circuitry. Dealership will quote you somewhere around 500 dollars to fix this problem. You will be paying for a NEW cluster (probably has same faulty motors in it) + milage programming and installation. There is a way to avoid all of this as i have done if you are a little mechanically inclined and can handle a soldering iron. I fixed my instrument cluster for 40 dollars. My speedometer and temp guage needles were going haywire and only worked when they wanted. i ordered updated stepper motors on ebay ... just do a search for impala stepper motors or something. Make sure they are the updated ones. buy yourself a soldering iron at radio shack (20-30 watt max) should be around 8 bucks. buy some rosin core solder (about 5 bucks), and a desoldering braid(about 5 bucks) if you have a cluster with 3 guages buy 3 motors. if you have a cluster with 5 guages.. buy 5. you need to replace them all at once so you wont have to replace the one or two that still worked later. heres a link to my how to wich explains it all.
