Question about 2003 BMW K 1200 LT
I'm not sure if you can help but I've just bought a 2003 K1200Lt BMW bike. It's in pristene condition but didn't come with an operators manual. The security system has me a bit stumped. I have two keys(same). I have a two button remote for the audio alarm and immobiliser on one. I also have another devise with the second key that is a small tubular device about 400mm long that matches(male to female) a small round fitting on the dashboard. The device communicates with the dash fitting when in close proximaty, it doesn't seem to need direct contact and glows red when the ignition is immobilised. The two button remote disactivates the imobiliser. The red light on the dash socket/fitting flashes when the device communicates, but only when the ignition is on. I just can't hear what is is saying to the bike. As I only have one full remote I'm hoping this is a backup device to allow access to the bike in the event of a lost remote. Trouble is I can't workout how it disengages the alarm and immobiliser, if it is mean't to, of course. Any ideas or knowledge on it? Anything would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Rcpirate for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. you have to pussh the left button for one second and then again for 15 seconds (according to the manual, for me this is not working), maybe for you it will do the trick
