Simple - get a drain pan. Pull the drain plug on the left side of the bike under the shifter and let everything out. Check what is there. Put the plug back in and open the clutch inspection cover behind the LEFT foot pedal. POUR IN A QUART OF NEW HARLEY DAVIDSON PRIMARY OIL. YES, IT TAKES A SPECIAL OIL. Don't put the old stuff back in.

Dies when put in gear and knocking noise from engine

Knocking noise usually indicated low oil, dying with knocking when put in gear usually means NO oil. Check oil level and fill it. If that works you need to check the oil level every day to see if it is leaking and how fast it is leaking.

Skoda gear selector assembly manual gearbox 1998 felicia please show design and possible solution to oil leak from gear box end

Normally there is a seal of sorts here (it may be a felt seal or a rubber flap) but I find that if there is a problem here I check firstly the oil level in the gear box and the viscosity of the oil in the box Remove the filler plug (plug in the side of the box ) and drain until oil is level with the bottom of the threads. Best replace oil with a known viscosity oil for you gear box.

Hard to change gears in my v6 hyundia

First thing to check is oil-level in the gearbox. If far below the filler hole - refill and look for oil leaks around seals and in clutch housing.

If oil level is ok - it might need changing or when serviced recently, it might have been filled with the wrong oil.

Somewhere on the side of the gearbox there's a bolt with a seal ring. Usually this is the filler hole. Oil level check is simple, stick a finger in downwards. Should feel the oil level.

Gear boxes need the right oil viscosity and are quite sensitive - meaning changing gears gets difficult specially when cold.

TOP UP AUTOMATIC GEAR BOX OIL

Looks like you have a leaks problem in your gear box. You'll need a clean hand pump to top up your oil. Make sure your pump is clean. In your gear box, there should be 2 ports ( fill and drain). Filling port located upper position while drain is lower.
Inject your oil and check your deep stick after run your engine for minutes. Repeat those steps till you get normal level of oil. Never exceed max level of your gear oil.

My car moves forward but when i shifted to backward, car doesn't move. I checked oil level, it's very less. Is replenishing the oil will solve the problem? Are there any reasons other than oil level?

Warm the car engine.Change through all the gears and finish in N.Check the transmission oil level. If it needs trans oil,add the oil into the tube that the trans fluid dipstick is located. The gears wont work if the trans oil level is low.Probably a good idea to find the oil leak.I hope this helps

What service should be performed at 90,000 miles on a 2003 GMC Envoy XL?

I would look into a tune-up as the spark plugs are a common cause of issues on this vehicle. I would at the very least remove the plugs and inspect them. If they are fine then it may be a clogged fuel filter.

Engine spudders when changing gears

The mechanic should check on the gears form N, R, P, 1st gear, second, third gear of the transmission . you also have to check the oil seals of the gears of the transmission.Don't forget to check also the shift level and the shift fork of the transmission.check the said gears ,the shift fork ,the shift level and the oil seals if they are worn out or destroyed you should replace them. Most of the time if the engine spudders when changing in gears it means that there is a problem in the oil seals of the transmission gears . Don't forget to check also the transmission bearing to be sure. Because it is spuddering .

Auto transmission slips in 1st and 2nnd gears gearbox jumps into gear upon gearing down 1994 excel

Check the fluid level first, either too low a level or too high a level can cause erratic shifting and also if the oil smells as if its burnt there could be internal damage to clutches and brake bands. The fluid would be the first thing to chech anyway with the car driven and warmed up first and then check the oil level in neutral while car is idling.

Transmission stuck in neutral (automatic) won't engage drive or reverse

first i would check the transmission oil, do this by starting the engine and leave it running, select all the gears (park, Reverse, neutral etc) then put it back to neutral, leave engine running then locate the transmission dipstick in the engine bay, remove and wipe the dipstick, replace then pull out again, if the oil is showing between the cold and hot marks then level is ok. I shoing lower or none, top up the oil level with automatic tansmission oil, keep rechecking the oil level as adding oil as to ensure it is not over full. will need to select all gears again before checking oil level again.
If the oil level is correct than quite likley a Transmission failure will require mechanic.
