Just changed the bars and risers on my sportster/nightster '09. Front indicator is now not working. Any idea's?

Lost the front left hand indicator since I have changed the bars and risers. Have I neglected something when reconnecting everything?

Maybe but you may also have pinched a wire in the switch assembly and/or where the harness comes out of the switch, clutch perch assembly.

SOURCE: 2000XLC Sportster front end vibration

Hard to diagnose, but if you have a bad engine vibration, you will be able to diagnose that when stopped and just revving up the engine. Moving balance problem can be easily out of true wheel and or needs balanced. (You can make your own balancer/ wheel true guage our of a couple of 8X8 posts with axle size hole drilled in each one) If you clonked a curb or pot hole at speed this can easily happen. Hope this helps you with your scoot, Rick

SOURCE: My 2007 HD sportster nightster is not starting.

I have had the same problem. Been throught two batteries, new cables, checked the fuses 999 times. It only starts every now and then. You must take a wrench and get the positve cable just right and it will start for a week or so then back to the same thing. You would think after building motors for so long Harley could at least make a bike that starts.

I'm fixing a 83 Harley-Davidson sportster. The last owner changed the handlebars and they are loose in the tripletree. what might be the problem?

If they are loose in the upper triple tree, you need to simply replace the riser bushings in the triple tree. Look under the triple tree and you'll see either two large bolts or two large nuts. If you take these off, you should see some rubber bushings that the risers go down through. If the bushings are worn or have gotten old and spongy, simply buy some new bushings and replace them. If the handle bars are loose in the handlebar clamp, take the clamp top off and see if the handle bars are knurled or have ridges cut in them. If not, they've put the wrong bars on the bike. You may can make a thin shim and put it around the bars and tighten it up a bit. If this doesn work, replace the clamp and risers.

What size apes can I put on w-out replacing cables

You're going to run into problems other than just the cables. All handlebar wiring is going to be too short and the front brake line as well. You can usually come up about three inches at the most from standard risers to tall risers, 3 1/2" to 4" risers. One other thing that you must keep in mind when changing H-bars, not only the height but the width as well. If you're going to change H-bars, plan on lengthening all wiring and replacing cables and the brake hose.
