VT1100 has two spark plugs per cylinder, the sparkplug caps are snap-ons so they're fairly easy to remove. You need a spark plug socket wrench to remove and replace the spark plugs.

Your bike is equipped with a standard 12 volt battery. If you count three acid cells/caps on a battery you have a 6 volt. If you can count 6 acid cells/caps on the battery you have a 12 volt.

Dont remember the colors. The thick (White?) wire is positive from the battery. All others can be connected individually to this wire untill you hear the starter spin. Keep that one to one side and connect all the others to the thick wire.

Removing the seat to 85' Shadow VT-500c
first you should not have to replace the seat to replace the battery. You take the mounting bolt off the right hand side of the battery cage and slide it out. Disconnect the battery terminals and slide it out. To take the seat off the mounting bolts are located on the rear of the seat by the brake light.
