Question about 2000 Honda CB 500 S

1 Answer

There's a hole where my exhaust meets the silencer.

At the welded join near the start of the silencer can, there is a hole where it's rusted.

Can i get that welded? Or tapped up? Or do i need to buy a new silencer? If so ... where from?

I have an 04yz450f and there is a slight exhaust leak where the mufflet meets the headers, will welding the muffler to the headers cause any issues? also would this be a reason why the bike has problems...

Just get a new gasket for the exhaust connection. Welding would be ugly, cause the area to rust quickly and lower the value of the bike when you sell it. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_98.gif

Where is the restictor washer located in the exaust of a Yamaha PW50? Disregard the YZ125!

It is in the exhaust where it bolts to the barrel. most dealers remove them before sale. it reduces the exhaust to about a 10mm hole

How do i fix an exhaust leak where vthe exhaust and muffler meet

It depends what is causing the leak. If there is a hole in the pipe, you may be able to cut the pipe and install a coupler with a couple of clamps. If the hole is at the point where the pipe is welded to the muffler, then you have to cut out the muffler and replace it.

Pin hole in silencer

If you are not too worried about looks, a small self tapping automotive screw will plug the hole.

But the hole, if not caused by crash rash, will likely be rusting from the inside out. Welding a repair in this case would be futile. A larger section would have to be covered, making for a very unsightly repair.

Better to replace when practicable.

Cheers.

Pulsar 150 - Some knocking after i got a service 3 days back...

It could be the exhaust baffles which are in the exhaust pipe tht have given away, you can remove the exhaust pipe assy and get it cut underneath and get the baffles electric welded..or rather spot welded and weld the exhaust back but the chrome will burn off and rust may thn take over ..or unless you paint tht area black( heat ressistant paint.),or better off is to replace the complete exhaust pipe assy.
Hope this helps!
