Usually inside the casing is a sprocket you must remove before it will come out.

Just fitted monster 400 frame to monster 620 but shock does not line up with frame mounting

Hi, Glenn for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. When I go to start the bike, the motor does not turn over. There is only a click, click, click. The clicking comes from a part on the right side of the bike, just below the tank and frame. Could this be...

It will be the starter solenoid making the click, they do this when there is not enough battery power to activated the solenoid completely.
You will need to charge the battery, or buy a new one.
The starter itself is at the front under the engine close to the oil filter

Have battery load tested, check all connections on starter, on battery, and on the engine where the ground cable hooks up.

Fuel System in Ducati DARK 600 Monster,

Strip and clean carbs, I had the same problem and that's how I fixed it. Take the carb to bits then soak all the bits in clean petrol (or prpsi believe it or not) for 1/2 an hour.

Monster Starter problem

if you are having starter problems with duc there is a special tool you need for removing the alt cover on the motor to remove the starter. its better for a dealer to do this job so you don't end up with a leaking motor after you get the job done, but you should look at the start relay first and your battary health, also start switch.

Ducati starter motor

I have 2 monsters in my barn right now, the starter motor is, well is not the easiest. First, is it the starter gone bad or the relay? Check the fuse. Then check the relay, bottom right of the air filter housing, rubber mounted, make sure it cliks when the key is on and the starter button is hit, then check the battery, make sure it is good, then if all this checks out, check the wiring. If it is still a bad starter, remove the crank case cover on the left, rotate the starter gear to align the bolt, unscrew the 3 bolts, and replace the gasket when putting in the new starter. Don't forget to take the battery negative off, and wire on the starter motor. Good luck.

Starter motor

I wrote to this last week but it looks like my letter got sent out to space. The book says to check a bunch of stuff in the line to make sure your starter is the culprit, but I take it , it works, you just want it off. Remove the crank cover on the left side, line up the starter ring holes with the bolts, don't forget the wires, that's it.
