Question about 2006 Triumph Daytona 955i

Battery not charging 03 955i

My consal gose blank and engine will shout down soon after. I charge up the battery and it will start back up.I have load tested the battery and it is good. I have a engine managment light on also.

I had the same problem on my 06 955i. I replaced the rectifier using a part from electrexworld. it is the RR99

Also there is an excellent mod for beefing uo the charging system here ... basically it means the reg/rec output goes straight to the battery

Sounds like the regulator rectifier has gone bad, but the first thing I would do is get my hands on a manual for quick reference d see if its something simple that you could do yourself like replacing the regulator.

Hi,one thing you can do,if you can still start the bike(maybe charge battery first)turn lights on rev bike if lights dimm or if thay dont get a bit brighter then its proberly the bike is not charging,there for it will just drain the battery untill the battery goses flate.

My HD 2001 Softtail will not start due to a power drain when i turn it on.

Battery is probably bad, 12.35 volts is only a 50% charged battery and this is a surface charge you have tested so it probably is a no good battery and as soon as any load is put on it it drops further. Replace it with an HD AGM battery. Otherwise recharge it and do a load test on it and see what results you get then

make sure your reading on your charging system is putting enough power to charge the battery first, put a voltage meter on your battery see while running see if shes charging 14 volts max is good. then start narrowing it down. twin cams , idk ill stick to my shovelhead and Kannon with the 350 chevy engine. less B.S. to go wrong.

My 1999 r1 revs flick upto 7000 and back down to 1000 then to 0

Bad voltage regulator. Mine went bad then started to 'over charge' the battery. I put a voltage meter on it while the bike was at idle. It read as high as 16.1v. After I changed the voltage regulator it idles at 14.1v.

I replaced the battery due to it not being able to hold a charge. After I put in the new battery the tach shot up to 7k (while riding) then down to zero. As soon as I got home I put the volt meter on the battery and found out that the battery was being over charged. The voltage regulator took care of the issue. I hope this helps.

Hi John, and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or damaged battery.
2. Loose, corroded or broken battery cable.
3. Alternator not charging or below normal rates.
4. Failed ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
5. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Water or dirt in fuel system, carburetor or filter.
8. Fuel tank vent system plugged or gas cap not venting.
9. Fuel tank empty.
10. Fuel valve vacuum line broken or carburator vent line closed off.
11. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
12. Failed fuel pump, pressure regulator and or fuel injectors.

My aprilia rs 125 battery keeps going flat i charge the battery up and last round about 1 mile then gose flat my engine then cuts out i leave for 10mins then it gose again im thinking the magneto as ive...

1. Voltage regulator/rectifier not grounded.
2. Engine ground wire loose or broken.
3. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier module.
4. Loose or broken wires in charging circuit.
5. Faulty stator and/or rotor.

2006 firebolt 1200 battery gose dead while riding and bike dies

I guess we are talking about a Buell
You more than likely have a charging issue.Start bike and check volts at battery it should be around 14.5 volts (with bike running) if not its not charging (stator or regulator)

The description "...series of clicks..." is significant. The battery is not putting out enough current to turn the starter motor. The best way to determine the battery condition is to have it load tested. However, considering eveything else, it would almost always be a failed or about to fail battery.

Incidentally, the alarm has been designed to have minimal current drain when in standby.

Battery not being charged, had a fully charged battery, took it out for a ride. died about 5 miles, pushed back. checked battery. had 4 volts

voltage regulator may not be charging...gain access to battery and take reading with key off ..should read 12.6v or better...then turn on key and see if lights put on a load and voltage drops..then start engine and crank to 300rpm and with votmeter you should see it raise uo quickly to about 13.5 or 14v and immediate drop back down to about 13v ,,,if you got a decent battery,,,this will prove that the regulating system works. if not your stator is bad...find the connector to the stator and check any two wires leading to the stator for .1to1ohm this is a good reading, if not stator is bad. you said you had 4v is that correct? because if it is, your battery is shot and needs replacement.

Daytona 955i (02) ran rough display went blank management light

When there is no charging system operational, the bike will run wih battery in total loss mode. When it gets to a certain point of discharge, the first indication is indeed as you saw, the intruments go blank. There is little power left at this point and need to get home asap! 

Either the R/R (rectifier/regulator) and/or the stator is bad - both are unfortunately quite common failures on these bikes. 

You can find a diagnosis guide that I personally authored at this site:

Follow those guidelines and you will be able to determine which or both is failed.
Also is a recommendation for a retrofit/upgrade to a better component if you do need to replace the R/R.
