Question about 2005 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe

1 Answer

I have a 1999 Royal Star which has just started to leak anti-free

It only leaks after I have shut it off and come back an hour later. The anti freeze puddles at the base of the front cyl. head on the right hand side towards the front. It does not seem to leak while I'm riding, at least I do not smell it or see signs of it.

I have a 99 ford taurus, that was leaking anti-freeze. The problem was a freeze plug. The mechanic was able to replace it with a expandable core plug. But now a few months later it is leaking again. Can...

Once the plug is changed it should last for years, however if you over torque the expandable ones they can fail in a short time. Try having it replaced again and it should last a long time.

Leaking anti-freeze from the left side above the clutch bleeder nut

Make sure the radiator header is full. Start the engine cold, pull off #1 and #2 spark plug caps and watch where the coolant leak starts from ( if possible). Each cylinder has a plug which seals the water jacket from behind the spark plugs. These plugs are sealed by O rings and this is probably where the leak is coming from.

No heat. runs out of anti-freeze often.

check for anti - freeze leaks around radiator.look down at radiator where coolant fan is look see if it looks wet below radiator. the radiator is leaking.check all coolant hoses.also check water pump to see if its leaking by the weep hole.if all check out good you could have a intake leak.

Ckeck for a crack or pinhole on one of the hoses. Also check the heater core to see if its blocked or leaking.

Leaking anti freeze from back of engine cannot see where the leak is it is not the heater hoses or the waterpump

It is possible that it may be the intake manifold leaking. If it is a 3.8 or 3.1 liter V-6 I would check the intake manifold gasket. These have a plastic gasket with silicone on each end that tend to crack and start leaking. you can normally see the leak behind the exhaust crossover pipe on the back side of the engine.
