1998 Honda goldwing front forks rebuild

A little bit of Trans fluid and the seals, flushing the forks and some elbow grease and a shop manual is strongly advised. This is not a simple job but doable. I made a special tool out of PVC pipe for this task also. You really need a shop manual.

Front fork air shocks leak on a 1982 honda goldwing GL 1100

You need to to replace your fork seals. if your not a fairly handy shadetree mechanic dont attempt it yourself because you have to remove the front wheel and forks to do the job.

My front tire is fairly new, no signs of wear yet. Everything seems tight in the front part of the bike. When I let go of the handlebars with both hands, sometimes (not always), the front forks SHAKE,...

Hello,

As long as the tire is weighted (balanced) properly and you are not a getting high-speed wobble, your mechanic is right. There are, however, other things that would cause your bike to wobble; tire type, road conditions, ribbed / grooved roads and slow speeds.

If you are concerned about your safety, I would recommend that you "test" your bike in different locations. Empty parking lots are a good place to start.

Regards,

Oz

Can't compress front left spring enough in left front fork to screw cap down!

make certain the bike is fully jacked up and the forks are fully extended, and use the old style manual mechanics speed brace , that you can push down and turn at the same time.

Fron end bottoming out and hitting front fender

Bad fork seals, allowing loss of fork oil. Missing fork oil due to mischief or missing drain plug. Fork damping mechanism failure. Huge pothole. Too many wheelies. Broken fork spring(s). Severe bike overload and heavy braking. Front end collision. Air shocks low on air.

Any of those things COULD cause the front to bottom out. Probably the most likely is low oil in the forks. Not likely the damping mechanism could have failed but it's possible.

Took front fender off can not get plug clip off wires

I take it you have an FLT..follow that fender wire up the left side of the bike. under your fairing in a plug connection just unplug it and wire and fender comes off. Have no idea how a fork tube and rub paint off a fender. the Flt fender is connected by two bolts on each side tube runs between those bolts and is connected there.
