I'd think it'd be easier to just go to the local bike shop and buy some.

there should be marks on the balancer drive and driven gears. The "pork chop" weight on the balancer runs exactly opposite the piston, ie; when piston is up, weight is down.

Remove the front tire?


Put the bike on a front stand, remove the wheel assembly and use the proper tools to remove and re install the tire after removing the wheel weights and the air from the tire. If you do not have the proper tire tools then remove the wheel/tire and take it to a shop to have the tires switched out. If you do not have the proper stand to allow you to get the front tire off take the bike to a shop and let them do what they are trained for. Either way unless you have a tire balancer you will have to get a shop to balance it for you.

I have a hi speed front end wobble And just put a new front balanced tire and it still wobbles..


Did you line up the dot on tire with the valve stem ? if not break tire down and line up bal dot and re bal. If it is taking alot of weight try relocating tire on wheel until you find a better bal position that dont require alot of weight.
I have had new tires cause wobble , spin tire on bike and check for wobble in new tire.

FRONT TIRE WOBBLING


Wheel needs balanced anytime you replace tire. Wheel could also be bent, but not as likely.

1990 Goldwing When de-accelerate at about 70 mph or higher experience vibration. Seems to be getting worse. Now just speeds above 65 I can begin to feel vibration. Good tires.


Good tires, could be bad or need balancing, air pressure adjusted.or shocks adjusted or repaired.Also balance the load on your bike do not exceed the weight limits for the storage boxes.

most tyres would have a weight on the rims if they were balanced its very rear they dont, but check the head bearings first,,,but my money is on that new tyer being out of balance

Feeling a vibration in the bike only in gear at the 3-3.5k rpm range that the only way i can think to explaing is a feeling of a sticky bearning. does not do it in neutral


It could be wheel/tire balancing issue if you only feel the vibration at highway speeds (60 mph and above) then higher speeds it goes away.
I've worked with tires and rims on trucks, bikes and cars and have found that a harmonic vibration is usually caused by tires being out of balance.

Perhaps the dealer could check for a vibration on a dyno.

For the DIY bikers.....Use CAUTION but, the Old school routine would be to raise the wheels (heavy duty Bike Jack) strap it down and spin the tires by hand and check the rims for run out (to the sides) and the tires to see if they are round and true.

Then spin the rear tires to speed (3500rpm) to see if the shaking/vibration is there. Also rotate/spin the front tire and see if there is a heavy spot that will settle to the bottom. Add a the appropriate weight (1/4 oz stick on weight) to the opposite side (180 degrees) of the heavy spot. Spin again and see if totally random spots settle to the bottom. Road test and see if it improves.

Mounting 620 tires


I mount my own with spoons on my 620. Wrapped a little tape around them to protect the black paint. Didn't worry about the balance, at the speed I travel it was no issue. Have also spooned them on my DRZ400SM. I assume from your log on you are a porschephile, my winter beater 951 turboS just came out of hypernation yesterday. Had been commuting every day since late april in my bikes but when it hit freezing that was below my limit. bill
