Question about 1997 Suzuki RF 900 RV

1 Answer

Loss of power

Today about a half hour into my ride my bike began to lose power...almost as if it was missing. This would only happen at about 1/3 throttle. It also stalled at two different stop signs. I started to play around with the choke while riding and it seemed to help some but when I would pull it out as soon as I would let it go the choke knob would slide back in. Anyone have any ideas as what could be causing it.

I figured out what was causing my problem. I was winterizing my bike today and I decided to take the tank off to check the fuel filters to see if they were clogged...they weren't but I did notice something sticking out of the end of the long tube that comes from the underside of the tank....I guess its some sort of breather tube. I blew through the tube and a big chunk of dirt/mud came out. I put the tank back on took it for a ride and it runs as good as new.

If you have a fuel pump, that could be the problem. If the pump is not working, only 1 cylinder will get some fuel. Maybe water came into electrical part of the pump and shot the fuse, just check the pump operation.

It seems the charging system of your bike is not working
Recharge the battery and thn fit it in the bike and start it and check the charging rate.
Remember with lights 'on' it drains power from the battery butthe charging system of theengine takes over i.e. if its working alright, with your explanation, its for sure the charging system is not functioning.
Chekc the altenator and the rectifier.

2001 yamaha R6 will die out on me while riding

Hi there!

dont give up on it yet. the CDI costs much! This sounds like a wiring problem. I've had the same problem before but i checked and traced the wiring and found out that the positive lead wire is making contact with the chassis.. due to vibration and just, it must have eaten the insulator. Check on this part. Also, make sure that your carb jets and spark plugs are clean.

-hope this gives you an idea.

Sudden loss of power

I have the same problem, I talked to the Triumph dealer and he said it was the gas tank purge valve. It's between the carbs connected to the frame, it's hooked up to the gas tank vent pipe on the bottom of the tank. He said there was two issues and that this one was 9.5 out of 10 the solution. He said to just remove the purge vale and put a straight piece of plastic in place of it. The other solution which is more exspensive he said was the crank trigger sensor.

1100 problem

I had a problem like yours and it was dirty into de carbs and in the fuel key. A good test to know if all the cilinders work is to put a wet paper or a tisue on the exhaust head of each cilinder and then you can see if they work...this is to know if the lost of power is becouse the engine doesn´t work complete...You can make this test in different revs...

Electrical problem with my tre-k 1130

came out of the coffee shop went to start the bike and the battery didn't have enough power to turn over the motor....I pushed started it but it didn't want to stay running once I put it in gear. Last night charged the battery and today put it in the bike and it started right up....rode it for about 45 minutes waited for about half an hour before starting it up again and it started , no problem. I am thinking that maybe it is the voltage regulator or maybe the alternator....can anyone help me out with this? ,If you have a multimeter, you need to test the electrical output of the charging system. (Check the voltage of the battery when the bike is revving at about 2000 rpm) If you don't have a multimeter, the best thing to do probably is to take the bike to an Autozone or similar car place where they will test the battery and charging system for free,,,
