Painting The Frame

I am just curious to those that painted their frame. Did you sand the frame first? The stock paint seems very smooth and I wonder if the paint will stick.

The easiest way would be to use a liquid paint remover or a sand blaster. Then get the frame Stove Enamelled. Stove enamelling is a lot stronger and gives a better finish.

Why is my paint not drying?

Factors that can prevent paint from drying properly:
Improper prepping by not removing the original coat and applying a latex brand paint instead of oil or alkyd- this is called blocking where the finish feels tacky.

Putting on heavy coats of paint between layers

Environment: too hot or too cold

Can i paint my garage doors?

Clopay's steel garage doors can be painted with any high quality exterior latex paint. Wood garage doors must be painted/stained on all sides prior to installation. Most models are available factory primed. Clopay recommends wood garage doors be re-painted every 1 to 2 years (more frequent refinishing may be required in high moisture areas).

What's the best way to clean an oil painting. It looks as if this painting might have hung in a smokers home and is dingy and a bit 'yellowed'. I'm an artist and have access to quite a number of produ

Look at the back of it to see if it has yellowed. If there are yellow stains on the frame and the back, then it is not the varnish in the oil paint that has yellowed. You can then use something like 409 cleaner to get the stains off. You should blot the painting and not scrub or wipe it. If the varnish is yellowing you can get a product called conservationists liquid and apply that as per the directions to help with the varnish problem.

How do i spray my quinny zapp frame black?and what type of paint?

Hi

Quinny would not advise the spray painting of the chassis.

Due to the way the chassis folds down, spray painting it may cause fold and unfold problems.

It would invalidate any remaining warranty on the product.

Bottom is rusted in underneath the little wheels

You can buy apliance spray paint, but sand it down clean first before spray painting it so the paint will adhere well to the surface.

Need Painting Advice for Compound Troubled Areas

I don't think you can hurt it by sealing it from the outside. Your issue is the inside of the frame. The pillar is not airtight. Most of what you can use will smell for years if you spray WD 40 inside to displace moisture.
You might consider taking it to All-American car franchises or equivalent. They drill and plug body areas routinely to spray inside door panels, tailgates, etc. It would inhibite rust and unless you actually replace the metal when you want to paint the car, theres not much else you can hope to do. I live in the Michigan rustbelt area.

Painting problem for 1979 Yamaha XS650

WHAT YOU HAVE IS A CHEMICAL REACTION THIS USUALY HAPPENS WHEN CELULOSE IN THE PAINT ATTACKS USUALY ACRYLIC PAINT WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ONLY THING I WOULD RECOMEND IS HAVING THE FRAME OLD PAINT EITHER BURNED OFF WITH A BLOW TORCH OR HAVING IT SHOT BLASTED AND POWDER COATED WICH IS NOT THAT EXPENSIVE AND IT IS FAR SUPERIOR TO HAND SPRAYING AND LASTS FOR A VERY LONG TIME WITH A TOUGH FINISH

Paint

.
Either one should be fine, but usually appliance paint is high-temperature paint.

The main thing is to be sure the surface is squeaky clean & dry before painting. If the surface is rough, I'd sand it smooth first.

THE D100 REFUSED TO SHOOT THE PAINTING IN THE INSERTED IMAGE. CAMERA IN ALL OTHER RESPECTS WORKING FINE. TRIED ALL MODES.

When you say you tried full manual, I just wanted to check that you also switched to manual focus? The D100 has a switch on the right side of the lens, says M, S, C, for manual, single, or continuous focus? You need that in M with a painting like that, or to should truly diffuse subjects like clouds or fog.

The reason it works fine with only part of the painting in frame is that the camera can then identify and focus on the edge of the painting. It could also focus on any painting with linear or sharp detail. Autofocus is rather clever, but not clever enough!

If you had indeed set manual focus, then I admit I'm stumped. Full manual mode with manual focus never refuses to trigger the shutter on my D70; although it does often take pictures I don't understand at first. :) Good luck -- let us know what you find out, please!
