Question about Vance and Hines quiet baffles

I have a Sporster XL883 2008 Model and replaced the sock exhausts with Vance & Hines Straightshots HS Slip Ons. The problem is that they are too loud! So i ordered a pair of Vance & Hines quiet baffles. Could you somebody tell me the difference in noise (in Db) before and after insatlling the baffles? Your help would be very helpfull.

About 3-5db but you must remember db is not a linear scale but logirythmic. basicallyy the baffles will remove the harsh rasp off the pipe and make them deep in sound, when cold they will be as loud as normal but once they have some heat in them they quieten down

Need to replace muffler on 2004 buell blast

If it is a stock muffler then buy another stock muffler and put it on - they are ALL the same. Buell never changed the exhaust on the blast at all. If it is aftermarket(vance and hines) than you need to measure the pipe and find something that fits.

Back fire with vance hines pipes

Sounds like it is running lean. The ECM must be remapped for a performance breather and/or free flowing pipes. I would use H-D Super Tuner or have a dealer do a digital download to remap the ECM properly for the changes you have obviously made. You may do great harm to your engine if you run it without the mapping change as the VE will be changed and the ECM doe not know what is physically going on with VE if it is not mapped into the ECM

Overwhelming heat coming from the back exhaust and cylinder from on a Ultra Classic Limited 103 inch engine. My thoughts are to replace the exhaust with a less restrictive exhaust such as a screaming...

I think replacing the exhaust will help, but it's an air cooled engine - they get fricking HOT! It's a very common issue with Harleys -just as it was with VWs back in the day. Replacing the exhaust will not void the warranty but it's not going to make a noticable difference - it may drop the temp a few degrees, but hot is hot. Your dealer might try to pull that "warranty is void" ****, but don't cave in - they are bluffing. They cannot void the warranty for this. Everyone changes their exhaust. If they persist, contact customer satisfaction and choose a different dealer.

You might look into putting a parade fan on - the bigger, the better. There are several to choose from and they help a great deal.

Also - Kuryakyn makes lexan heat shields which do help.
