Question about 2005 Ducati Monster 620 Dark 2 disc

Looking to Buy a Monster 620 dark

Hey there all. I'm looking at getting a new bike and came accross the Monster today and I really liked it. I'm 5'3" and need a low sitting bike, so the Monster seems like it might be a good fit. I wanted to get some reviews on it and any suggestions on accesories. I know I will want to get rid of the shovel on the back, that holds the tag. Any suggestions on some after market tag/light kits would be great. I'm sure I will want to get a new pipe too. I like the idea of carbon fiber pipe as well.

Well...there are a myriad of ways to customize a monster to make it as personal and unique as you are....as far as getting rid of the tractor flap on the back...you can do a makeshift tag holder from some Home Depot materials like some aluminum corner bracing for drywall or even some flashing for roof drainage bent to the right shape and attached...it isn't hard at all.....as far as mods though...they can go as far and as wide as you wallet...so be careful...and conserve where you can so you can drop bucks when needed or wanted on other things!....the 1st accesory I'd suggest though...Sargent Seat!....your bumm will thank you for it!....after that...it is all dependant on what kind of riding you want to be doing and and what you needs are as far as suggestions on accesories and mods!

My 620 dark ie is running rough. Really coughing and farting at the lower revs. Struggles to get through the bad patch unless I really open it up. It was running sweet last week.

Start with the basics. Check the spark plugs, fuel quality, and compression. Coil failure is more common on ducati's than other brands, so check spark. Also, make sure the airbox is assembled properly, and that the cover is not loose.

Just fitted monster 400 frame to monster 620 but shock does not line up with frame mounting

Hi, Glenn for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. I am looking for the front and rear gross axel ratings for a 2003 Ducati 620ie Dark. The sticker that has this infomation has been removed.

Go to http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp , and download a freebie manual. Check your registration, it should have the bikes vin number. If not, then search the frame, it will be stamped into ot somewhere. From this number you can get your exact model, and as there are plenty of manuals, pick the correct one.

Friction zone on 620 clutch

There are nice adjustable levers avaliable at your Ducati store. A good thing if you have smaller hands. Doesn't cure the sudden engagement, but maybe makes it easier to control.

Questions on 2003 Monster 620 Dark

hm ... let's see ... first the standard disclaimer - I haven't ridden a 620 myself - so take this FWIW 1. Slipping & chattering clutch @ 3-4k does not sound normal. What it could be, I dunno. 2. I haven't run into that either, but I believe it may be the case, unless you're an enterprising wrench. I wouldn't think it to be a big deal, but I'll bet the only way you're going to find out what bulb it is is by taking it apart. 5 gets you 10 that any Ducati 'fiche only shows it as a whole unit - in which case they're not going to know what bulb to get, and they're not going to want to tear it apart. (As for the P.O., if it's under warranty, that's how I'd fix it, too). Same goes for the handlebar controls - I had a horn button spring break or dislodge - and according to Ducati, I could only order the whole unit - for +$400. So, score one for ebay 3. Cables could always stand to be lubed, IMO. But it could be something sticky in the grip, or a snatch somewhere in the cable guide - starting with the grip itself. 4. Can't think of anything, besides the usual stuff. My suggestion? Since this sounds like a private sale, if you really want this bike, have him take down to the dealer and let them give you an opinion of it. Make sure to mention those issues. If it's the same dealer, ask them (privately) what they know of its history. Ask for service receipts/history from the owner.

Gear problem

Errr... that doesn't sound right. When I had my 620, im pretty sure anything over 80mph would have my tach over 5k. You should honestly be up around there all the time tho. Ducs are much happier in the 5-6k RPM range. It might sound scary at first, but trust me that the engine runs nice and torquey up there.... its the happy place! enjoy.
