I just purchased a1980 FXWG The vin # is 9g50938j0. What I would like to know is of the bikes produced in 1980 how many were FXWG and what were the color options. Is there anyway nto find out what color...

To find out anything about your bike, you must use the longer frame VIN number. The engine number is an abbreviated version ot the frame number and they should match. This would indicate that the original engine is in the frame. If they do not match, then the engine and frame combination are not as they originally came from the factory. This will destroy any "collector's value" that the bike may have had. You'll have to call Harley's historical division to find the information that you're asking for and since they get so many requests for this, you may not get it.

Good Luck

Can you tell me the colors of these bikes

Hello,

In 1983, Honda made a few substantial changes for the final year of the GL1100. ... an improved seat, a more elaborate paint scheme and an exclusive color (two tone gold)

Not that being said, i personally think they could of made a better color for factory stock and had this color as a option. I have seen a lot special order painted like the , Burgundy, Teal seem very popular. But in 1983 there factory choice was the two ton gold, with metallic.
I hope this helped, Mike from fixya.

I need paint codes to repair damaged fairing it is a turquoise and black model

When I have re-painted my bike.. Ive taken in a part to the painter, or local shop. they scan the color and the paint code comes right up. works great, especially because over time the paint is not the same color anymore from the factory, and ...well... i like my bike in 1 color.

otherwise the other easiest way is to call the kawi dealer shop. give them ur bike model, year and they can also give u the factory codes. good luck......PK
