Question about 2000 BMW R 1200 C

1 Answer

LEAKING Noticed last night that the garage smelled and saw a small puddle under my bike, it's a 2004 Suzuki Bandit 1200S. I'm going to try and include a picture (not my bike but an attempt at finding out where the leak is coming from). I have close up pictures that I can try and include this evening. Any help would be appreciated. The arrow in the pic indicates where the leak is coming from. My question is what is this and what can be done to fix it. My ameteur guess is something to do with the crankcase and hopefully a gasket/seal issue. (The leak is actually on the left side of the bike)

Is your bike water cooled? It could be anti-freeze. It it were fuel it will not puddle, it will evaperate too quick. Anti-freeze will puddle, and has variuos colors. Also taste it, if it has a sweet taste it is anti-freeze. Just bearly dip you finger in the fluid and just touch the tip of the tounge. If it were oil it would be dark. Hope this helps you.

05 Bandit 1200S idles low, run rough at low rpms,

Try buying new diaframs for your carbs, because of the diafram and piston operation, if the diafram becomes weak due to heat from your engine, and by the diafram not beeing rigid enough, it hesitates to lift the needle out of the jet causing the lack of fuel at low tack/rpm when throttling up or accelerating slowly.

Suzuki 1200s bandit, headlight & main beam not working, sidelights work fine, checked fuses & bulbs they are perfect

G'day mate , now did you just look at the fuses or did you pull them out , often you'll find that on bikes the solder in the fuse will break , not the filament , go after that to the harness that gets the power out it may be loose, dirty , shorted , then try the earth at the light wire try these before you go for the micro switchs in the handle bars they are a real piece of work to get appart and back together and truthfully not much in there to go wrong

'Sticky' gearbox on 2004, 1200 Bandit

Have had the smaller brother of this bike, here is what I found, try using 10W40 full synthetic oil, make sure the clutch is adjusted exactly right, if that doesn't help the engagement dogs are worn and u need an overhaul, which isn't that hard, about 10 hours work and $200 in parts.

Leaking something

if ure leaking a yellowish fluid, and ure having clutch issues..... i would imagine ure leaking brake fluid from ure hydraulic lines (that acuate the clutch). Im not too familiar with those bikes so not sure if its a cable clutch or hydraulic clutch. but it sounds like hydraulic fluid.
