Question about 2008 BMW HP2 MegaMoto

1 Answer

Engine dying

I had HP2 MegaMoto my brother riding it around about a month ago just fine for a few hours (we had unseasonally warm weather). I tried riding it yesterday (warm temps here we come) however I am running into a problem. The bike started and warmed up fine, at least I think so, but when I went to put it into gear and release the clutch it immediately dies no matter how high I rev it or how slowly/quicly I start releasing the clutch, it kills the engine immediately. It restarts with no problem. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Check your kick stand sensor if it's unplugged then there is your problem. If it's still plugged in then the sensor might be gone. The sensor shuts the bike down if you try to take off when the kick stand is down. you can bypass the sensor by jumping the two wires before the sensor with a piece of wire connecting the two leads together. doing so will allow the bike to be put into gear with the kick stand down so always check it so you won't have an accident.

Bike will sit and idle for over hour but if u ride it after ten 15 min it will lock up back tire and die then hard to kick after cooling down will fire back up

1. idle speed is a "no-load" situation.
2. Riding is a "load" situation. - This is when the problem occurs!

This could be something simple or very complicated to diagnose ... its time for a top notch professional... not just some parts replacer!!!!!

I gave seen a quad that would idle fine, even when warmed up, but try and race it and it would overheat and lock up. The problem was a BENT connecting rod, from forcing the engine to turn over when the engine was FULL of gasoline! (Forcing past a hydraulic lock situation!)

I am looking for a hp2 underseat tank

Hi, Anonymous for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. I don't have a problem yet. I'm buying a 1997 Honda Shadow Vt 1100 from my sister-in-law. My step brother died a few months ago and she want's to sell me his bike, my question is I know how well my...

If the bike is in good running order you should be able to drive it every day form dusk to dawn. 10-12 hour rides should be no trouble what so ever. If the motorcycle has been sitting and not run for a few months and your intention is to hop on and ride it six hours to your house, you may want to consider either trailering it home or taking it for a couple of short drives just to verify it is running properly before attempting the long drive home.

Yamaha TW 200 starts but won't run.

If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..

sounds like a charging system. same thing happens with cars when the alternator goes kaput. so i would say check your charging system weather it be an alternator or generator.

needs the carbs cleaned out, and possibly some new spark plugs. If it has been over 4K since the plugs were changed, they need replacing also.

Sounds like some kinda bad electrical connection. Check all your wireing is good and all connections are tight. Then start checking things like the switch gear on the bars and ignition switch. A voltmeter will be a very handy tool for this.and also Check your Battery cables, especially the Ground.
