SOURCE: Hard starting of a yamaha ttr 225 after sitting

I had a similar problem with my TTR 125. I removed the carb, removed the float bowl and gave a a careful clean. I also removed the choke plunger mechanism and gave that a few shots of penetrating lube oil. The choke mechanism works much smoother as a result.
Just those two simple things and my bike fired up right away.

SOURCE: i need to know how the wires go on the starter

Any relay is made up of a low current circuit and high current circuit. The low current circuit is connected to your starter switch, this is the connector block that you see on the relay. The high current circuit is connected from your battery to the relay and then from the other terminal to your starter motor. Your starter motor will complete the circuit by going to ground. These are the heavy cables (high amperage) that get connected by nuts.

Make sure you have the correct amperage relay for your bike as to low a grade and it becomes a fire hazard.

SOURCE: take to long to start.. takes almost ten minutes

The TTR-125 Carburetor's Run Lean by design. Mine had the same issues till I found a post on Thumpertalk.com on Carb and air box Mod. This is a good starting point on gets; 110 and 112.5 main and 17.5 pilot. But you must check spark plug coloring to make sure the jetting is correct. Check spark plug after the bike has been ridden for a wile. I also took out the stock baffle and replaced it with exhaust tip and now it fires up after a few kicks and worms up in a few minutes.

2000 yamaha ttr 225..no powe

Trace the starter wire to the solenoid. Any loose connections? Check the other heavy wire to the solenoid. It should have power present at all times. If no click from the solenoid when the starter button is pressed, check the wiring connections coming from the handlebar. Lastly, look at the starter switch for possible damage from the spill.

1999 ttr 250 starter motor is not engaging

I would guess it is the starer clutch, also called the one way clutch. I went on to www.bikebandit.com and looked up your bike and it has a nice exploded veiw of your starter clutch . I will try to put a direct link to it , hopefully it will take you to it. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/yamaha-motorcycle-tt250rl-1999/o/m7707
if not go put in your bike and look under starter clutch.
