My Yamaha tw 200 only gets 2 sparks then stops and will not start why won't it start

Hi, Michael and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

How do I check a stator to be good or bad? How do I check the coil to be good or bad?

Really you either need a manual for the machine and hope it gives you an ohms test sequence or another running bike the same to test your parts on.have you not tried disconnecting the kill switch or ignition switch first that's my first point of reference.

Checked coil-good, wandering if stator has gone bad? this bike has a battery, does the battery need to be connected to create spark to the plug

a spark plug will not be able to spark if the battery is not properly connected, since the battery is what gives power to the spark plugs.

I have a ccm 644 that won't start bought new battery and checked the air filter which had oil in the bottom of the filter box. Turns over no problem but no start any ideas.

Hi, Philipirk and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
8. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2 and/or BAS).
11. Security alarm needs a reset.

Battery not charging

Hi Anonymous, your bike is 10 years old how old is your battery? Before any proper electrical diagnosis can be made on your charging system your battery needs to be charged to at least 12.5 volts or higher. Make sure all battery cables and wires have a clean tight connection at the battery and the negative cable is securely grounded. The usual bad guy in this senario is the voltage regulator, remove and inspect for bad connections, cracks or swelling, burnt signs or smell, if it looks ok re-install it and with an ohm merter or test lite confim good ground with ground strap/wire and mounting is tight.Rremove voltage regulator plug at the front right hand side of the inner primary. With your test lite connected to ground touch the regulator pins, if the test lite glows replace the regulator. Then attach the ohm meter to ground with one lead and test stator pins they should both read infinity. Set the ohm meter to the RX1 scale and touch both stator pins with both leads, reading should be 0.1to0.2 ohms. Then set the meter to volts AC and fire up the bike and set the throttle for 2,000RPM meter should read 32 to 40 volts AC release throttle to an idle meter should read 16 to 20 volts AC at 1,000 RPM. Turn off engine and plug regulator back into stator set meter for at least the 20 volt scale DC and fire up the bike again voltage at battery should be 14.3 to 14.7 volts DC at 3,000 RPM if no luck then replace the component that did past it's test, either the voltage regulator or stator and or rotor if necessary. Good luck

My ccm 604 has no spark from the ht lead

Hi, Anonymous if you have a CKP sensor it needs compression to send the correct signal to the ICM/ECM, make sure both spark plugs are in heads and use a grounded third plug to check for spark or hold spark plug cable close to spark plug in the head. If still not getting spark the usual suspects are:

TVS scooty pep plus not starting, changed with new new battery & new spark plug - no spark coming (I have tested the spark plug connected outside touching scooty metal body & start-kicking)

Possibly a bad ignition coil. Check the connections at the ignition coil, make sure they are clean and tight, If so,..then most likely either A: the ignition coil is bad,or B: the pickup on the stator rotor is bad or the rotor could be rusted on the raised portion where the pickup get its signal.

Ccm 644 misfire

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
7. Intake air leak.
8. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system, carburetor and/or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor.
12. Loose, dirty, or corroded ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, O2, and/or CMP sensors.

Hi i have a 1997 yamaha 350 warrior i have no spark to the spark plug what could be

hello, you probably need to have your stator checked out, sometimes the pickup coil in the stator will go out, also you can try ign coil, the one spark plug wire is hooked to,warriors are bad about cdi going out, mine would idle, would not rev up, would bog down, source coil in stator probably needs to be checked also..
