Question about 2007 BMW R 1200 RT

1 Answer

2008 1200 rt-p engine rattle during high speed deceleration.

I have notice at loud rattle like sound coming from the engine when I shut down the throttle from a high speed 65-75 mph it sounds like a high speed ratcheting sound that does not appear to be from the exaust. At lower speeds I don't hear the sound. Further, I also get a similar sound when I work the clutch to up shift. The bike is new and the dealer doesn't hear the sound during test riding. I ride every day so engine sounds are very familar to me.

I own a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. At highway speeds I hear a loud winding noise coming from what sounds like the right front of the car. And also a whistling noise on deceleration.

sounds like you have an hole where air is blowing past. check for any missing screws or holes. if a mounting brace for any hoses or pipes that run under the vehicle have come loose they could whistle as well. if the noise during deceleration only happens when you brake then it's time for new brake pads.
hope this helps

My 2004 Prius has a rattling metallic sound on acceleration. It is coming from the top of the engine on the passenger side. Does anyone know what this can be?

Does the car make this sound when the car has just been turned off and engine is still hot? Lightly push the car back and forth while it's in park. Does it still make that sound?

1994 toyota pickup rattles at low speeds (~15-19 mph).

Check for loose heat shields the cover the exhaust. I find this is the source of many rattles. They are made of sheet metal and if they are not clip or tightened down the low vibration frequency when the car is running at slow speed will cause them the hit the exhaust pipe/ front mainfold.

Water leaking and loud noise and rattling on final spin cycle

Turn the drum by hand and if you hear any noises it is the rear bearing. If there is no noise then remove the front bottom panel and take out the coin trap on the pump and check those hoses.

Engine shuts down on deceleration

Well 145K is alot of miles, catera's are not that reliable especially after 100K. It sounds like you could have multiple issues but take it to a mechanic asap before it becomes unfixable.

Ticking and rattling sound

sounds like the problem is brake related. That ticking you're hearing is your front brake rotors, clicking against the sides of the brake caliper. As you speed up, the clicking will get faster untill you won't be able to hear it, (it's still there, it's just inaudible at such a rapid revolution) upon deceleration, you will notice it more prominently, clicking in rhythm to the speed of your wheel's revolution.
basically, It indicates your brake pads are worn down. Unfortunately the condition will get worse, louder, and the car will become extraordinarily more dangerous to drive as front braking will be compromised if the vehicle's braking conditions persist.
A qualified mechanic will setup the brakes, rotors, check for warpage, hone the rotors if need be, and be able to install a proper replacement pad.
