Its not your pads min thickness is 0.04..you have air in the lines or a loose fitting. You really need a vacmum suction device to bleed harley brakes not the old auto turn the nut pump the valve routine. Take it to a shop and have it done will only take about 15 min. Maybe someone prior to you mixed dot 4 and dot 5 maybe it fluid just needs to be replaced. but its not your pads the brake fluid makes up for the pad thickness.
SOURCE: back brake locks up
Rear brake lock-up can also be caused by the caliper carrying pins and the caliper pin holes. Check to make sure these are smooth and clean. The most likely problem though will be the rubber line coming from the splitter leading to the caliper. With age these get soft inside allowing fluid to pass one way easily but not the other. Remove this line and blow through it both ways to insure the fluid can pass both ways.
By gear oil I assume you need to add tranny oil. This is added on the left side of the bike by removing the front round plug on the primary cover and pouring it through the hole. With the plug removed you can also check the adjustment of your primary chain. If you need to add motor oil this is done on the right side and is found by removing the battery cover.

if your hearing a noise like a herd of locus in your front wheel*slight brake drag sound) then that is normal, sadly yes I said that is normal.
Testimonial: "Thanks for advice"
SOURCE: The brake light stays on. I have figured out that
The front brake light switch is a small button switch located in the side of the switch housing facing the master cylinder. Loosen the two bolts that hold the master cylinder to the handlebars and slide the master cylinder as close to the switch housing as possible. If this does not solve your problem, then you may have to replace the front brake lever and pivot pin. The pivot pin has an E-clip on the bottom of it. Pry off the clip and push the pin up. Remove the lever. Replace with new parts.
Hopefully this will cure your problem. If not, then you will have to replace the switch. To replace the switch, take the two bolts that hold the switch housing halves together out. Carefully lift the top half of the switch housing and look inside the housing. You may have to move the master cylinder away fromt he switch housing and loosen the throttle cables to get the lower half down from the handlebars. Locate the front brake light switch. It has a button that points towards the master cylinder and has two wires. You'll have to unsolder the wires and replace the switch and re solder the wires to replace the switch.
Good Luck
