SOURCE: power stearing on 2001 VW passat

Depends on how you define closed system, Just the spot to add the fluid is all that you should have open. It's the Green cap near the drivers front head light (it'll have a little steering wheel logo on the cap) It takes special VW CHF 11S fluid (most autozones, carquest etc.) should have it.

SOURCE: my ford focus 04 auto makes a grinding noise when

you have a power steering leak, when in full lock position the power steering pump is actually sucking in air and this is your noise. you will have to locate the leak and replace the leaking part and fill it to proper level.Ford will accept trans fluid for power steering fluid.

My car is making whinning high pitch sounds when im driving then it will stop and eventually come back, is it the power stearing pump or the power stearing hose leaking

You most likely have a leak. You shouldn't ever have to add power steering fluid. It is best to get it checked out and repaired while the leak is small. If you wait, the leak will get worse and the oil gets dumped on hoses, belts, wiring harnesses, computer sensors, etc. and can cause severe damage to all of these items, as well as rubber engine mounts and suspension parts. To properly maintain your vehicle, NO fluid leak should EVER be "tolerated". Fluid leaks (of all types) are the leading cause of sending cars to the scrap yard way before their time.

Power steering light comes on and then I loose power steering

Gonna take a gander at a guess, and say a power stearing pump. Are you losing power brakes at the same time? If so, probably a serpentine belt. Or a loose pulley (bearing) in there. If only power stearing, check the power stearing fluid first.

Power stearing noise it grones as I am stearing.

it is possible that you might need to check the fluid level, if it is full the next step night be to have the system flushed out and replace the Power steering filter. Finally last would be to have the powr Str pump replaced, Good Luck!

I have a 2001 F 350 ford diesel . Started it up ,no brakes, no power stearing. Fluid on the ground, both pneumatic lines to brakes blown off. leaking fluid out of the power stearing line, blew connecting...

the hyrdra boost supplies pressure to these systems, that is done throught the power steering pump, the line or the pump is defective, I would replace both.

Stearing pump nnoise 1995 toyota tacoma

you may have air in the lines to the steering rack. or the fluid is low. there is also a chance your replacement pump is defective. a lot of steering pumps are remanufactured. a way to check for air in the lines is to take the filler cap off, have someone turn the steering wheel lock to lock a few times and hold for a few seconds at full lock each time, check to see if any air bubbles arise in pump reservoir. if no bubbles are seen you can also try a vacuum pull on the reservoir if you have the tool to do so, that tool will pull any air from the lines, but the engine has to be off because it will also pull some fluid from the pump in the process, when you don't see any air bubbles in the vacuum tools's lines it should be ok.
