Accelerates and revs the engine up all by its self? It will drive its self down the road at 30 mph all by its self. Revs the engine up i took it to the dealer and they said it never did it to them. it will do this after a long drive also will not start right after you shut it off.
Sounds like a sticky Idle Speed control (ISC) valve or muck in the throttle body, try cleaning them first, if that does not work a new ISC Valve will be the way to go.........

its most likely the idle air control valve. the sportage have problems with them sticking its a little black box on the front of the intake tube held on by two screws if you take it off and flush it with carb cleaner and clean the connector as well your problem should stop

i would check all the basics like spark plugs and check for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold.With a can of 2+2 carb cleaner while engine is running --if idle goes up or down that is were your leak is--

It could be a problem with the fuel pump or igntion module/ coil pack. The next time it stops, fuel pressure needs to be checked and have the ignition coil pack and module tested at a local parts store.
