Question about 2003 Yamaha YZF-R1
As I was riding on straight hi-way at 70 mph my inst. showed ER2 and ck eng lt. came on. I pulled over immed. Turned off eng. turned key on, looked normal. Restarted eng. it turned over very sluggish and did not start. Towed to shop (shop where I am auto tech at, and keep my bike) Put voltmeter on it the batt. was at 11.9 standing v. Put the chg to it til it showed 13v. Started eng. chg v showed 12.2. Put a used rectifier on it same thing. Tried a good batt. same thing . The owner of cycle shop where I got the rect/reg told me to ck for acv at stator. With eng. running It had 1.2 v ac even revved betweem the wht wires from stator. So I put an after market stator on and tested it . It read 38acv while cranking. When I started and revved to 5000 rpm stator read 148acv I thought good. However, No chg still. I sw. the rect/reg back rechg batt NO good. What now. THX, Joe
Stupid Question but are all your wires clean and tight connections? Also make sure your batt ground is good too. R1's can be picky like that.
