Initially, I would assume that your description "stops then restarts with no warning" indicates that the engine just dies suddenly. Should this be the case, then most likely, the problem is electrical in nature and suspects would be:

  • kill/engine on-off switch;
  • side stand switch;
  • loose connector/wiring especially going to the ignition switch and/or the CDI.
If it were a fuel problem (starvation), then the engine would sputter and die slowly not suddenly.

As to the fuel filter not being fully filled, it is a matter of priming. The air inside the filter has no where else to go. A trick is to use an external method of initially filling the filter before installing. This of course would require that the carbs are also filled.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Bike has new stator, new rectifier, new battery,had a professional mechanic check it out, but still while riding it dies out. I wait 20 minutes and it will fire right up again. anyone knows the answer

I came across that problem on a Kawasaki Z1300. It was the routing of the fuel line between the cylinders. The pipe got hot and caused an air lock so the fuel would not pass. I shortened the pipe a little so the line was running uphill to the tank and sheathed it inside a larger plastic pipe. Check your fuel lines for kinks and also the fuel tank vent. Your problem is indicative of fuel starvation. When it stops, is like it is running out of gas, or have you never had that happen? Start your bike up, get onto a clear road and turn the fuel off. When it starts running out and stops, is it the same as the problem you are having.

This sounds like your idle jet need to be cleaned or replaced, try runing a few tanks of B12 or some other carb/fuel injector cleaner threw it and see if that helps if not you may need to rebuild the carb.

Starts fine, rides for short distance then stalls and will not start until accellerator is at full throttle, runs rough once restarted.

there may be a problem with the fuel tap, if there is a position between on and reserve called PRI(prime) try the prime position next time it stops.

Kawasaki GT750 Fuel dumping

Sounds like the float valve is stuck in the carby and allowing fuel to keep flowing.

Give the carby bowl a light tap with some wood to free up the float valve. You may have to pull the carby off and have a look if that doesn't help. Fuel cannot bypass the float valve in normal operation.

Fuel starvation most likely caused by plugged fuel filter. Best way to check/fix is to drain gas tank then remove on/off/res petcock assembly. Filter is removed with assembly and can be cleaned with carb cleaner, blown out with compressed air, and re-used. Do not get solvent or carb cleaner on any rubber parts as this will harden them. Re-assemble and start with fresh gas. Oil in breather is normal if not excessive and can be sign of clogged air filter or worn rings. Fix fuel and air filters and re-check. Good luck, Techjoel
