I am driving on the access road of our local freeway. When it is going uphill, my Montero does not want to go up at an even pace, kinda just lags along. Also when I am entering the freeway or trying to pick up speed just going down the road, my Montero stutters between 40 - 50 MPH. After 50, it will pick up the speed quite well. Any ideas here?.
SOURCE: i have changed my battery 3 times and it keeps going dead
Did they test the output only, 13.5 to 14v if it was all that was tested there are two other possibilitys that the alternator needs testing for Voltage regulation which will fry a battery (over charge and cells collapse)or the diodes have failed which will flatten a battery overnight.

I have the same problem, you need to change de oil transmission or try an additive for aut. trans that resolve the problem for a while, but is almost most better changing de oil.
SOURCE: Mitsubishi Outlander 2003 Service Engine Soon
You'll need to know why the service engine light comes on, they can check this by using a OBD II diagnostic tool to find the trouble code stored in the pcm, ask them to run a check on it, or you can take it to a mechanic before you buy it to have them check over the vehicle for any minor or major problems.
SOURCE: PICKING UP SPEED PROBLEM AND NOW ITS COLD IT WONT START!! :(
without seeing the the offending little so and so its difficult to put a finger on it ,firstly try starting it with some either spray ,then when its running take it to your local garage and let a mechanic have a look, the symptoms you describe could be caused by a variety of different faults accumulating into one ,from the auto choke not working to a dodgy fuel pump or a loom problem ...
