SOURCE: i have a R reg

Most likely there you have a security system VAT (Vehicle Anti-Theft) module. If you try to bypass this the car will not start. Have a mechanic or yourself get to the main wiring harness to the ignition in the steering column under the dash, unplug it and use another ignition with a key in it to learn the security system code first before trying to start it.

SOURCE: the key has broken in

on the left side of barrel, look for a dowel, there should be a vary small opening that you can take something as small as a pinhead and push the dowel in ,while pushing in on dowel pull the barrel out.the key may need to also be in on position for removal. try that and see if it works. if not please repost your question. thank you for choosing fixya.com

How to remove barrel,demonstration

remove the steering lock barrel can only be done with the original key and the ignition in the acc position .this can be done in situ but some motors like VW you have to drill the hole to push the pin in so you need to know where it goes and to get to it you have to remove the steering column
