Question about kawasaki KSR 110 Motorcycles

1 Answer

KSR Street legal?!

I have been interested in buying a ksr110 for a while now as a street bike in New York. I've read all over the place about getting a motard titled but am still not sure if I can. Some say you can some say you can't. As far as the mso goes it doesn't say for off road use only and it's got a 12 number vin. Not really sure what else I can do to find out, so any help would be appreciated.

I have contacted New York State Department Of Motor Vehicles and this is their answer.

You cannot operate these devices on sidewalks, public streets or highways in NYS. These devices are classified as motor vehicles, but the devices do not have the correct equipment or design to operate on roadways. If you operate an unregistered motor vehicle on a street or a highway in NYS, law enforcement officials can arrest you and give you a ticket for the violation of several traffic laws. The DMV web site has more information about motorized devices.
Mopeds
You cannot register or legally operate a limited-use motorcycle (moped) in NYS unless the DMV certifies the device for registration and operation. The DMV web site has more information about Mopeds.
All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)
You cannot register an ATV unless it complies with the definition of an ATV in the DMV brochure, ""ATVs - Information for Drivers and Owners."

Hope this helps.

I have a street legal 1978 175 trail bike where is the best place to sell it.

My vote is for Craigslist.com - of course E-Bay is also an option. It is easiest if you do not have any shipping headaches. Craigslist can keep it local.

Can you make this bike street legal?

Yes you can. You will need to add a headlight, taillight, turn signals, and change the tires to street tread instead of knobby tires. Then you would need to get a license plate from your local Department of Motor Vehicles. It might be cheaper to just sell the YZ450 and buy a 2004 Yamaha WR 450 enduro. This motorcycle is ready to ride on the street and the dirt. Click on the link below to view the WR450:

How hard is it to ad a light kit to this so it can be street legal?

The light kit is easy (baja designs) you may have to change your alternator. The problem can be the state you live in. You may not be allowed to have a plastic gas tank on the street. You may have to have your certificate of origin from Honda to get your title (to give to the state). You may have to put on street tires (DOT approved street enduro tires). Before you spend $1000 upgrading your bike make doubly sure that the state you ride in will title your upgraded motorcycle. In other words it might be cheaper just buying a street legal enduro with a title.

Plug and play. I have a list of 12 cheap and easy modifications that will make your bike fly. Also they are very simple to street-legalize, and if you're interested I can tell you that. Good luck.

How to set timming on a 2003 Honda XR80 dirt bike?

This is the closest manual to your bike I can find.
http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/site/57...
As you can see, it covers from 1979 - 2003 - Honda rarely change their engine configurations when they make something that works.
This manual was probably last printed in 2003 - and later year bikes just added updated pages (Honda does that quite often to save on re-printing new manuals).
The XL model is exactly the same as the XR, except the XL has additional components to make it street legal - battery, head light, tail light, turn signals, horn and street legal tires

Need help 450 mx

I am new to the forums and I am currently looking to buy a 2003mx 450 It is street legal with CA plates and he wants 2200 for it. When I go check it out is there anything specific that I should look for? How reliable was the motor in the 03's? I am not sure what other questions to ask. I would appreciate any help. edit: also does $2200.00 seem like a good deal for this bike? Make sure it was street registered before the cut-off date in 2004. For the rest I'd do a little bit of reading on this site on the updates needed. At $2200 it's a good deal. ,
