Question about 1985 Honda CBX

1 Answer

CBX Restoration Hi! I'm currently restoring a '81 CBX. My next hurdle is the replacement of the fork seals. The Honda workshop manual speaks of the the fork oil as ATF and in another area as 'oil'. Do you know the correct specification for the fork fluid?

I have 4 CBX's '79-2, '81 Turbo, & '82. If you are using stock forks and not a real agressive rider, the ATF fluid works just fine. If you are using performance forks, have other internal modifications, or prefer the twisties, you can experiment with different weight oils. I believe that ATF is about 10W ...

How do I change the wiper on the shocks of a 2003 750 Honda Magna motorcycle?

Hi, Sherman the wiper is just a dust shield for the seal if you have oil on your forks and they are not scratched you will have to replace the seals (both forks) if your fork tubes are scratched and can not be polished out then you need to replace the tubes otherwise your forks will leak no matter how many new seals you replace (tip use double lip seals) for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. I want to change my fork seal for Honda CBX550 Fours

Are you talking about the inner seals or outers seals ,either way its a long and labour intensive job.If you have never done it before then its best to get help from a friend ,Fitting the seals is quite easy ,its the stripping down that takes the time ,and how much oil to put in is found in your workshop manual .if you don't have a manual then you may find one in your local libary .
