According to the Kawasaki site you should use SE class SAE 10W40, 10W50, 20W40 or 20W50 oil for the engine. You use SAE 10W oil for the front fork.

I run a 10w40 vavoline motorcycle oil JASO standards and have no problems, i change it around 2500 or 3000 miles. Just make sure that is a motorcycle oil with the JASO rating which is made to handle wet clutches.

1998 kaw vn 800 classic has no oil pressure, engine heated and first sign was both light coming on then top radiator hose blew. I changed out every radiator hose and thermostat and the lights stay on. I...

On most of the older Kaw's they had a plastic oil gear and when this brakes then you will have no oil pressure. You can go here http://www.gadgetjq.com/gadgetsfixitpage.htm , his page has all the information on Vulcan Motorcycles that you would ever need to know. There is information on there on how to replace the plastic oil gear or the POG as we Vulcan riders call it.
