The fuel switch has three positions:
The arrow on the handle points to the position selected.

ON = Normal operation setting. Fuel will not flow through the hose to the carb until the engine is on. Gas in the carb bowl is used to start the engine. The arrow is DOWN when in the on position.

PRI = Fuel flows through the hose to the carb at all times. This setting is used if the bike has been sitting around and the fuel level in the carb may be too low to start the engine. For safety use this setting only to fill the carb bowl with gas or for brief testing.

RES = If you run out of gas, this setting will provide extra gas so you can hopefully find more.

ON or RES (if fuel low). Only use PRI to reprime carbs whenthey have been run dry/ serviced.

That depends are you talking about a fuel tank gauge float or a carburetor float. If you are talking about the Carburetor most kits have them with the kit. That said, the float is usually level at the time the fuel fill ping is in the full closed position.

Sounds like vaporlock. Try insulating the fuel line, especially around hot engine parts.

2. Loose float bowl screws.
3. Damaged float bowl o-ring.
4. improper fuel level in the float bowl.
5. Worn or dirty inlet valve or seat.
6. Damaged or leaking float assembly.
7. Particle contamination in inlet fitting cavity.
8. Damaged petcock diaphragm allowing fuel to flow through the vacuum line into the combustion chamber.
9. Contaminated gas tank.

Removal of fuel tank to change spark plug

There should be a bolt towards the bottom of the tank. You will have to remove Your seat to see it. Undo the bolt and slide it out. Shut off the (petcock) fuel valve first. You don't need to take off the fuel line. There should be 2 other hoses under it aswell. You may need to reconnect them if they come off.
